Hello everyone, i've been considering a 550 for a while..had my 360 Gated Manual for a year put 10K miles on it, then bought a 458 sold the 360, kept the 458 for a year and did about 9k miles, just sold it last March.

Been toying with the idea of getting a 550 for the past year even though i'm more of a sports car guy, but i just went for it, 1999 Black / Black with 50K miles (to me thats barley broken in as i'm a Porsche guy lol) The car has Tubi exhaust (sounds "ok" not great)

The car just arrived today, of course some crappy sticky buttons, the plastic trim on seat near handbrake is a mess, needs a nice polish, ect..But the driving, oh my, what a beast, an absolute Gentlemans Chariot..i'm glad i got it, i'm taking it to get the belts and whatever extra it needs done soon..I drove one last year that i didn't like much (but it was a pretty tired one) The torque and power is so linear, and of course the gated manual is unbeatable..The engine on this car feels like its just propelling you forward!

I already added 25mm hill engineering rear spacers *first thing i did was put it on a lift, inspect the undercarriage and install those spacers, they are a must have and balance the look of the car.

===I know people "frown" on installing shields when the car didn't come with them, but i found Yoshi style very think metal shields that i think i'll be installing, waiting for them to arrive from Europe, try them on and see, i do like the contrast shields provide, however the clean look is nice too...

Also maybe just lower the car a tad as well on stock suspension when i get it in for its belt service

*Any other recommendations on things i should do along with the belts? The shocks, suspension seem in really good condition, it has new shock actuators ..I'm going to a very talented shop that i'm sure will suggest anything thats needed but would also like your opinions as well.

Might be a good investment (modest cost) to have @ferraridriver do your visors with his Maranello Skunk Works metal upgrade.

Congrats Tarek! Solid buy. Was this the car at ISSIMI? I was thinking of going to look at that one but never got around to it.

Congratulations and welcome to the V12 where they belong club. I'm not a big fan of shields but on a Black/Black a little color would add an interesting contrast. I'd consider yellow calipers to go with the shields. Other mods/upgrades include MSW steering module, Fabio exhaust components perhaps progressively if not ready for the complete setup (mufflers, H-pipes, cats, headers), HE tensioners and check/adjust timing when you do the belts, 575 engine mounts if/when needed. Drive it like a sport car or a gentleman's GT she'll do both very well.

Those look great. I would have the shop check integrity of the fuse/relay board, and upgrade to PCB if any issues with the board and/or soldering points are found. Fabio's headers are a must for these cars IMHO. I was taking friends out for 0-120mph rides at another friend's airstrip over the weekend and the sound was half of the fun:

Great choice with the 550 and welcome to the family!

Monitor the front shock actuators and see if they're rotating in place. The actuators are notorious for rotating on themselves and twisting the wiring harness to the point of cracking. Which results in the annoying suspension warning lights on the dash. I suspect this is why yours were replaced.

If they are rotating, see this thread:

Thanks guys..for the recommendations, the car does need a lot of work cosmetically & some mechanically for neglected services , and i've spoken to my mechanic it seems it could be down for a month :/ now i'm considering selling it to a good friend of mine for what i have in it, and he will just deal with sorting it her out..and in the mean time there is another 550 not on the market that should be already fully sorted that i may pursue..if that one works out, i'll let my friend buy mine..but thats how much i have fallen in love with these cars, i'm definitely not letting mine go until i find a replacement (which seems like its already in the works)

What i'm bummed out is Black on Black is one of my fav color combos..
