My hangar neighbor has an F-104 (I think?)... it is pretty crazy to walk around and look at it up close. It really is just a missile with a pilot seat. I doubt his will ever fly again.

The Thunderbird/Blue Angel video really gives you a good idea of the difference in size between the Viper and Super Hornet. Much more pronounced now than with the previous F/A-18C/D.

I do not consider myself to be an accomplished photographer, especially with things that are moving fast. This was a lucky shot I took today at the UK National Ferrari Owners' Day at Sywell Airfield, Northamptonshire. I do dislike the high-speed of digital cameras: pictures of aircraft are much better when the props are in motion.

Does not look good. He is still in the seat, pre-kicker.

Jag- Thanks, quite a story and lucky for the pilot she initially pitched up since that is before the days of zero/zero ejection systems. Sounds like the seat kicked him loose just before he went into the greenhouse.

    Ah.
Thereby exposing his legs to breakage, eh?

Is there an "any landing you can walk away from...' joke I'm missing here?

I worked on the Big Bird below before I worked on the Bird With the Boom. Two great airplanes!

On Thursday, May 27th, Supermarine Spitfire Mk.IXc MJ755 arrived home in Greece following a three year restoration stint within the Biggin Hill Heritage Hangar at former RAF Biggin Hill near London, England. MJ755 is the only ex-Hellenic Air Force Spitfire extant, and had not flown over Greece since her retirement from military service on December 8th, 1953, so her homecoming garnered significant attention, both domestically and overseas!

I can't describe how much i love the Spitfire and the F-104G!

Interesting that she has clipped wing tips. Wonder how common that was on Mk.IXs?

Figured it out, the clipped wings were fitted to LF Mk.IXc models, with LF standing for low fighter.

I love the L-1011. I have always heard it was a fantastic airplane to fly. And it would have been really cool to fly on one of PSA's L-1011s, with the lower deck lounges. Although how you had time to get out of your seat, go to the lounge, get a drink, and get back to your seat on one of their typical LAX-SFO legs, I don't know.
