Not finding anything here after searching. Blendmount makes a rear view mirror mounting bracket and wire tap “MirrorTap” for the 488. Has anyone done this installation?

    Thanks!

I know from previous cars that they make a decent kit, but haven't opened up my 458 yet. I'm not sure if I'm going to tap in at the mirror or down in the console because I have to decide where I want my remote display.

I used the overhead console, but soldered the connections instead of tapping. Also, the BlendMount for the 488 does not work. The problem is the way it attaches to the rearview mirror stem. Folks from BlendMount were great to work with, sending me an assortment of different screws to try. In the end, they accepted my return.

For my 458 I used a pigtail from the fuse box on the drivers side. Works great but had to remove some trim pieces to get wire up to the mirror.

Last week I used the Mirrortap to install my radar detector in the Huracan. So much easier and I think I finished in less than 30 minutes. You just need to find the correct ground and switched power wires to tap into.

Great info. Do you think the same issue would occur, regardless of which detector is attached to the Blendmount?

Good question. I was using their mount for a Valentine 1 (gen 1, not 2). Perhaps a mount for a non-Valentine might work. Assuming the mounts are different, you can always try it and return it if it doesn't work.

I would recommend using the suction cup mount. I had mine attached to the mirror and the mirror fell off as I was driving. The service manager at Ferrari said it was not uncommon. I had them remount the mirror and I am only using the suction mount now.

I used the suction cups but eventually they fail and the detector is dangling by the wire.
I started using these permanent mounts. I use them for the Valentine gen1&2 and for an escort. There are mounts available for multiple brand detectors
