    For a few years of production…about 1990-1993 (short run for Rolex), Zenith Daytona’s had an odd register marking in the lower-middle register. The 6 at the bottom reads like a 9…collectors refer to these models as ‘inverted 6’ references.

    It not a mistake or misprinted dial.
    Just a Rolex oddity. Therefore more rare and collectible.

    Agree. It’s my fav sports watch and the one I wear more than any other. I miss the weight when I wear anything else now. It’s a modern icon.

    Check out Straton if you like the 70s style watches, they have some cool retro style watches. I accidentally ordered this meca-q speciale (meant to get the auto) and liked it so much instead of returning it for the auto I ordered a yacht racer from them as well.

    I had that same watch. A guy I worked with called it fake because of the inverted 6. We walked a block from our office to a Rolex AD, who confirmed it was real and just a Rolex oddity

    I bought this watch for my father in the early 80’s. When he passed in 1995, I started wearing it as my daily watch. The IWC caliber 89 is a very dependable and almost indestructible movement.
