Watching everyone move along, I just made it to 40. Progress!! Jealous of those of you further along, but well aware there are many behind me as well. I also placed another order for a Spider… haven’t broken the news to the wife just yet. LOL
Tell her you went into buy an SF90 but ended up with the F8 Spider so that you could spend the difference on taking her on some trips
My F8 took 8 weeks from NJ to my dealer, but I'm in Canada so it sounds like some of that time was spent waiting to clear the US/Canada border.
Yes, other new cars I've ordered ship directly to Canada but it seems not Ferrari - they go to the US first.
Ferrari of North America has only one prep center, in NJ I believe. So the CN cars still go through there.
And I believe that just one person works in that prep center based on the length of time cars sit there and wait. I am on most likely my 5th week of the Ferrari rollercoaster of "your car is here but not really since it is still sitting at the port and not the dealership" Still enjoying the virtual ride of anticipation!
What is the general consensus on time of first update/status change vs. deposit being put down? I put my deposit down on 5/20, my spec is loaded onto the app, just waiting for Ferrari to accept my order I suppose...
I don't think there is a simple consensus. It depends on how long your dealer's list is of customers ahead of you, and how many allocation slots they get. Only when your order gets accepted and locked (10R), you can make reasonable estimates of progress.

I finally received "the call". Well, sort of. After easily +six weeks of waiting with my car at the port in Newark, and hearing any day now, I finally reached out to my dealer and made the call. While my car is not actually at the dealer yet, it is to be delivered today. I guess this is good enough for this posting. The dealership is going to do whatever inspections, etc. need to be completed and send the car out for PPF and ceramic coating on Monday. With the end of the month on Wednesday, they asked that I come in then to pick up the car. At the end of the day even Ferrari dealerships operate like all others with an end of the month push for sales volume, etc. Believe it or not, I think that I actually might miss the rollercoaster ride of anticipation and waiting for the call. I have to admit that in hindsight I did enjoy the anticipation and checking email for the first production photo. The whole process then became real and exciting waiting for the next two photos, which for me happened over the course of several days after the first photo. Finally seeing the third and final photo in my email was a great feeling. Then, the wait to find out the car had shipped, was on the water, had arrived in the US, etc. Each step along the way was like working toward a goal. And now that I have reached the goal, I will miss the process a bit. I will post photos later this week and my first impressions, etc. Thank you to everyone who helped along the way with spec recommendations, explaining the process, etc. It all worked out exactly as it should have. It is the Ferrari way.
No model. F8 came in December. Humidor came. Added to collection. For y’all waiting My Spider was supposed to be here by now but stuck in allocation hell. Locked and loaded with my F8 as a combo. Really 6 weeks at the port? Mine has been there a week. I know customs is like 1 to 3 days max. Not sure what the hold up is. I know ports operate on moving volume off the docks. They don't like for goods to be on the docks very long.
Was told today that the port holdup is due to a lack of available trucks. One CA dealer group is sending their own charted 18-wheeler to pickup nine customer cars that have been sitting for weeks waiting for transport. My car is still on the water, so this person had nothing to gain by spinning me a story. Does make sense given what has happened in the news recently, even gas shortages due to a lack of transport trucks.
Makes sense. I will call my dealer as well and see if thay can get a truck to go pick it up. I wonder if I could go pick it up with my trailer? Great info. Thanks.
