At over 800 HP, no one is going to complain its "only a V6". :)
I'm happy to call it now; Manzoni will go down in Ferrari folklore. Most of his designs are breathtaking and he has a really good judgment for mixing the requirements of aerodynamics, modern regulations and historical Ferrari cues all while retaining the feel of the brand. The 296 is beautiful. Great job Ferrari, great job Manzoni and your team.

Also, with over 800HP why are the projected times so slow? This is unFerrari, they usually go in the other direction. Is it to create more of a separation from the SF90? The SF at almost double the price and not as good looking IMO may have some struggles. I see why they released that one first now.
I think this might be a car to have with a minimum of options, and I say that as somebody whose wife ticked about every option on her Lusso T. That is a luxurious GT but this is a sports car. I have had this feeling towards the mid engined cars since driving simply specced 488s on the Pilota course. What do you really need on such a car? This one I would keep basic, and just drive it, fast.
2.9 and 7.2 to 120 mph, 1.21 at fiorano, did u say SO slow?! It’s faster than a pista or on par. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I think the quoted times are going to be slower than actual is what I mean. I bet it will be plenty fast.
Yep... the dash is all digital, which is why there is no ipad screen in the middle. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Would love to see a poll started to gauge interest level among FChatters. Is the car an addition to the garage, a replacement or a pass?
Not being the most organised person in this space… I’d be interested to know how long does the electric boost last after charging the battery and filling the tank for a day on the road? And how well does the car perform on the petrol motor alone? These are questions I will look forward to answering on a prolonged test drive as it will be relevant to me in the real world.
Couldn’t link it, but go to the Ferrari website and click on the 296GTB page and the “discover the design” tab, I got it from there. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Dealer just called and told me the msrp should be about 400-450… yea if that is the case, most folks will be priced out. If “Fun to drive” at that price, then perhaps the 992 GT3 might be a more sensible option, even though I’ve been eagerly awaiting this.
Jeez , can't they just change interior? This dash design is 10 years old or smth. https://www.instagram.com/p/CQgnftzMtTz/?utm_medium=copy_link
A few reflections: - In Assetto Fiorano it offers 360 kg of downforce @ 250 kph/155 mph (FYI downforce without a speed does not mean much), just 30 kg short of the SF90 - Considering 50% of SF90s are selling with Assetto Fiorano, I was sure there would be an AF version for the 296 as well - We cannot compare the Artura with the 296 GTB: completely different segments. Now I think McLaren has a market positioning issue: the 296 competes with the 720S (why is anyone mentioning the 765LT that is a track special?) so they can either update the 720 to keep up/beat the 296 and leave to the SF90 the higher end of the market or they can position the 720 replacement as a competitor to the SF90 and leave the 296 segment all to Ferrari. Or they can develop another model…but with what $$$? Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
My suspicion for the thinking behind the somewhat bland and understated front fascia of the SF90 and New 296 is that it is the easiest and most noticeable place to make a product line refresh that gets everyone excited and willing to open they're pockets. Think of 458>488>F8 evolution and addition of "aggressive" looking refreshes on hood air intakes on F8 or 488 pista etc. I'm buying a 296 and will like line up for the 2nd year refresh or limited production model that makes the front fascia more aggressive. I hate myself for that, but honest about it. Good business decision by Ferrari,.. thinking like a public company. (by the way, "bland and understated" is used in a relative sense. Relative to what the car could be with a few strokes of a pen. Relative to most other things on the road, she's lovely)
