as in the USA there is not a 22% VAT like we have in Italy (and Euro/USD conversion rate is exactly 1,22) you can translate the 269k Euro Italian base price in 269k USD MSRP base price.

Aston Martin had apparently planned a TT hot Vee V6 called the TM01 for the upcoming rear mid-engined Vanquish. However, testing for that engine apparently went awry. So either they will work the bugs out of it, or use AMG’s hot Vee 4.0 V8. If the latter, it maybe the only V8 in the segment, which may be a strong selling point for the Aston.

 

Reliability and quality is an issue with Ferrari is always an issue…whether it’s my testarossa,355, or FF it’s never been great [emoji38]

what does “hot v” mean?

 

Turbochargers (and exhaust ports) are inside the V and not outside as usual

The turbos are nestled within the Vee or valley of the engine. This creates a tighter package. Better control of the turbos, as well as the turbos being closer to the exhaust ports, shorter distance to the turbos. Less piping, equates to less heat lost. Also the cats a located within the Vee as well.

 

Which is more than enough to be fair.

 

somebody mentioned that bmw had a hot v engine and it didnt last very long. does the hot v set up put extra strain on an engine?

It’s nuts to think this engine was already producing 700hp + 3 years ago. That’s 235+ hp/l.

 

Does anyone know if waiting list is open in the Ferrari dealer information system yet for the 296 GTB? (Not referring about ability to take deposit etc or put you on a dealer's "internal" list.. talking specifically about Ferrari system that they use and that HQ sees and has access to. Presumably once they put you on it, it should show up on myferrari app, so if anyone has seen that happen would be helpful to know). thanks all

The current AMG engine 4.0 V8 is a hot v engine and it is truly wonderfull. A true torque beast with a very distict sound.

BMW still uses a hot Vee for their 4.4 TT V8. It’s called the N63, and it’s been around in various since 2008. The M version is called the S63. It apparently is the worlds first production car engine using the hot Vee set up. As far as reliability, that’s another issue.

 

That’s truly an unfortunate missed opportunity. Imagine a 750HP+ high-revving V6 in a lightweight 3,000ish pound car. That would be a ton more desirable than this 3,600lbs porker.

I imagine it will be much higher. I don’t think it’s just about the exchange rate, but rather, it’s more about what a given market might support.

 

I think Ferrari did a good job with a hybrid coming in with the dry weight of 3,241 lbs.

• 488 Pista: 2,812 lbs
• F8 Tributo: 2,932 lbs
  
• McLaren Artura: 3,075 lbs
  
• SF90: 3,527 lbs

I think the new Aston CEO (ex AMG) canned the new V6 as soon as he arrived and will use AMG engines for future models.
