Have and love my Pista but looking to get another modern F car. Have an F8 on order but it hasn’t gone red yet. I prefer the looks of the F8 over the 296 but not by much - the 296 has grown on me already quite a bit and playing around with some other color combos in the configurator makes me like it even more, especially with the graphics of the AF.

I like the interior of the 296 a lot and have read reviews of the Roma on here that seem to be quite positive on the all digital interior.

I know there are a lot of opinions on here about the engine, and while I too love a V8, I’ve been a Ferrari fan since childhood, like most of us, but I have never found it hard to change with the times. Of course I like some models more than others, but can appreciate them all. The V6 bothers me ZERO.

So, pretend with me here, you V8 guys/gals, that the V6 doesn’t bother you either. Add an F8 to the Pista or wait a bit more for the 296? Why?

    Thank you!

Sorry but I can't pretend. It's a hybrid V6, case closed. F8 order stands with zero remorse!

My F8 is at 85 and I prefer the looks over the 296.

That said the 296 is growing on me. Will see it in the flesh soon and will then decide to add it next to the F8 or get the latest GT3..

Since you already have a Pista, I would consider switching to the 296.

    296. F8 very similar to Pista. Try the hybrid- who knows. You might like it. But honestly F8 is great also. No bad Choices here.

If I had a Pista and wanted to add another Ferrari I’d get a 812… a F8 or even 296 would be to similar.

Isn't an F8 basically a Pista underneath? If you have a Pista would an F8 be that different?

I feel like either the 296 speaks to you and you want it or it doesn't and you don't.

Meanwhile I'll stay in the stone age with my 458. :p

    I wouldn’t have a Pista and F8. Pista isn’t harsh. They’re both comfortable.

Inasmuch as your F8 has not gone red,you can still cancel. I just don’t know what the F8 will give in terms of driving experience that the Pista can’t. Have you thought about a 765lt? Probably a long wait for the 296.

I also have an F8 Spider on order, and it’s time to fish or cut bait for me (my order needs to be finalized very shortly). Don’t have a Pista, but I’ve had the 458 Spider for about 3 years, and of course really enjoy it.

Like you, I embrace new technology, and owning a V6 Ferrari doesn’t upset me in the least. Keeping the N/A 458 makes me more inclined to go hybrid for my next purchase.

And I also like the 296......it’s growing on me daily, but I’m realistically looking at 1-1/2 years out for a Spider version, so I’m inclined to stay the course with the F8, swapping it for a 296 when the time comes.

Drinking the Ferrari Kool Aid......just like they planned.

I also have an F8 on order waiting to go red. If given the chance to switch the order to a 296 I would politely decline. I prefer the look and relative simplicity (powertrain) of the F8.
To me the 296 looks a little small, F8 has a bit more presence.

seems f8 may be too similar to pista to justify both. so i vote 296

I have a Pista and a F8. I love driving the Pista in short 50-100 mile drives. I drive the F8 when I want a Ferrari experience with some comfort and luxury or I have a long trip. The F8 is my wife's favorite Ferrari I have owned and she enjoys driving it with her friends. My plan is to trade my F8 for my F8 Spider I have on order later this year. I fell that a Pista coupe and F8 Spider is a great combo for the Mid engine cars.

I will say if you haven't spent time in a 812 you should its a wonderful car and I miss the sound it makes at full throttle.

All that being said if you have 2 cars I vote Pista and 812. Those are the 2 best modern Ferraris in my opinion.

Nothing looks or feels like a Pista and nothing sounds like a 812.

    Good luck with your decision.

Have you driven an 812? The Pista and 812 are near perfect stablemates. I have both, and wouldn’t wish to part with either. As mentioned by others earlier, both 296 and F8 are going to be too close in form and function to the Pista. IMVHO, you need to explore a completely different realm.

If you're trying to fill a void of a driver's car, I would suggest a 296 GTB. It's 100% clear that Ferrari is advertising it as a drivers car. I don't think they'd go and position it as such if it were to disappoint. They even claim that we should impressed with the sound, which is highly unusual for Ferrari, and high risk for their embarrassment to claim unless they felt strongly about its success. They must recognize the response to the 488, Pista, and F8 sound. IMHO, the Portofino M and Roma sound so much better than the Pista and F8 from the factory, and so does the 812.

At this point, if you haven't received your F8, values will really mean nothing as you're not going to be on the bleeding edge of resale to people desperately seeking one this summer. By next summer, Ferrari will undoubtedly have announced another 4-6 models, of which one could conceivably cannibalize F8 values. Who knows. You can always cancel your 296 allocation if you as cars start to arrive for demo etc, and you're unimpressed. F8s will be easy to buy.

Agree that the Pista and 812 is the perfect 2-car Ferrari collection.

The option of choosing a V6 turbo hybrid over an NA V12 doesn’t register in my brain.

Appreciate all the advice!! Love this forum.

Never driven an 812 but have owned an F12 and a Portofino. Loved them both for different reasons but when I go to my garage and pick a car, I always reach for my mid rear engine car. I’ve even gone out WITH my F12 key and went back to the house for the 430 key. I can’t explain it. I love the front engine cars but when given the choice (and I’m lucky to have it) I almost always chose whatever mid rear engine car I have. I just don’t think an 812 would change that feeling, and I’d still be longing for another mid rear engine choice.

I’ve tried to love Mclaren but every time I drive one I just think, I’d rather spend my $ on a Ferrari. I know, it’s lame, but I just have Ferrari in my blood. Don’t think I’ll ever own a lambo or a mclaren. I’d honestly rather wait and have a Ferrari in the end. Agree with your point about the f8 and Pista driving experience though. Even though I still like the f8 look just a little more than the 296, is that alone enough to get a car so similar to the pista? I leaning toward the 296.
