This won’t be an inexpensive model to produce given the additional hybrid components. It’s actually quite surprising that the Artura starts at $225k. Would be interesting to do a deep technical dive between it and the 296 to see what the cost drivers are. We know that the Artura does not have regenerative braking, for example.

The F8 must be a real cash cow considering that much of the tooling and capital investment has been recouped over the 458 and 488 series of cars produced on that platform since 2010. It’s no wonder they’ll produce it as long as possible. This makes me happy as a shareholder.

1470kg dry weight. So somewhere around 1600kg on the road?

Is the quoted dry weight with the AF pack and optional carbon wheels?

My F8 first pass was $415,000 I whittled that down to $370,000. That’s with a base price of $277,000.

So take the same spec and the 296 would be nearly $50,000 more or $420,000.

My Pista is medium spec with has $110,000 in options (around a median total MSRP of $454). My 812 is a pretty strong spec with $112,000 in options (towards a higher end of normal MSRP’s at $470 total). I think it will take at least $50,000 to make the 296 GTB right, but yes, cars could be had for less. By the time you do some paint, racing seats, lifter, Apple CarPlay, shields, upgraded wheels, upgraded interior, and some carbon bits, you can sneak up on $100,000 in options pretty quickly. Bottom line, the 296 GTB is not sliding into a value segment in the Ferrari range.

While I agree on return on money with carbon bits, with my Speciale, a lot of people passed on it because of the lack of carbon originally. So while it still sold the losses were minimized, the ability for it to move during a time when demand is high and values are up may be affected as well. The buyer ultimately paid to add carbon to the car.

    Insane…
Personnaly i won’t put the CF seat on 296 as to me the car looks very GT, F8 looked more agressive and to me it suited it more: maybe in the asseto corsa…
Im curious to see if one can order without the hideous stripe /livery.

For sure but u don’t recoup the same amount.
It’s like my testarossa I’m doing a full major now about to cost me 20k, it may increase the resale by 7/10k but no more…
Oh well those are just toys;)

Agreed, after the Speciale, I decided to spec the Pista the way I wanted it. Couldn't be happier with the results, and I'm glad I did it that way.

Take my 812 for example. Here’s my full carbon breakdown:

    Interior Carbon
$7,593 - CIDL - Carbon Fiber Driver Zone + LEDS
$7,593 - DATR - Carbon Fiber Dashboard Inserts
$2,869 - CILR - Carbon Fiber Central Bridge
$2,025 - CISK - Exterior Sill Kick in Carbon
    $20,080 subtotal

    Carbon Exterior
$6,750 - CEAI - Front Bumper Insert Carbon Fiber
$3,712 - FCWS - Carbon Fiber Front Spoiler
$9,956 - CEXS - Carbon Fiber Underdoor Cover
$5,062 - CELB - Rear Bumper Sides in Carbon
    $25,480 subtotal

The full MSRP was $470 and the total for carbon bits was about $45,500. Every car needs Driver Zone + LEDS for $7,500 to remove that from the carbon total for a remaining balance of $38,000. So think about this scenario where both these vehicles are available used with delivery miles. What is each worth? How much might someone pay for each? I know which one I am buying.

    Car #1
    Full Carbon
    $470

    Car #2
Zero Carbon except Driver Zone + LEDS
    $432

Maybe you don’t get ALL your money back, but you probably get SOME of your money back, and you probably sell the car much faster. Having said all that, I spec’d my car expecting to own it forever (best of / last of the V12’s etc).

I like this, but I think for regions where your number plate is a strange color or is ugly, the lower position may have been to avoid things looking too goofy. I won't photoshop in any regional plates to avoid offending anyone!

I too have the same question. I have an MC20 ordered. Probably October delivery. I thought for sure it would have the dual combustion chamber F1 technology. Funny that Maserati is ahead of Ferrari on that. I do like the 120 degree engine though.
