Oh man, always has to be someone to ignore the parameters! [emoji23]. Appreciate all honest opinions though. Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
Wait what? The OLED screen for the gauges was fine, but man, I thought the wheel touch pads and tablet in the console were terrible. And I am a tech geek. It was like going back to a 2002 Palm Pilot. In a 30 minute drive I accidentally brought up the voice command a half dozen times, cameras on and off, changed audio, changed dash screens several times. Then when I *wanted* to do something on the tablet at a red light I didn't have time to figure it out, and gave up. I just drove the new RS6 Avant last week which has multiple touch OLED panels and frankly it was easy enough to be intuitive, AND it still had metal knobs for the stereo volume and some basic functions. To me, that was tech done right even if it is excessive. As to your OP, if you have a Pista then keep it forever and add a 296.
Personally perfect garage for me is Ff/lusso because kids F8/296 because I need to have fine Testarossa because it brings me more sensation than anything else ever period Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
My best friend from HS owns 3 Pistas, a TDF, 2 Speciales, 599 GTO and god knows what else at the moment plus a SF90 on order...he says if limited to one other car alongside a / the Pista, it would be his Giallo Triplo Strato TDF
My fleet changes every 18 mo or so. I traded the f12 and the 430 toward the pista - I wish I still had the 430 though - miss that car every day. A month later I traded my gated F355 for a Porsche gt3 (ducking rotten tomatoes now [emoji23]). Wish I wouldn’t have done that either in retrospect. I sold the portofino and used the dollars for a 70 mustang boss 302, a 68 Camaro RS and a 71 C10 pickup I use as my DD. My wife got the rest [emoji23]. My only F car currently is the pista, hence the need for a more daily-able F car. Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
With you on that one. Other than F40 and Pista, the F12 TDF is my favorite Ferrari ever - I can’t afford both the pista and a tdf tho - maybe someday but not in the cards now. I’ll never have the $ your boy has but good for him, I’d really love to visit that garage. Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
Echoing the sentiment of others, as a current Pista owner, I don't think the F8 would make much sense; too similar to the Pista. However, I don't think I'd drop $400k on the V6/battery powered 296. A more enjoyable combo for that money would be a Porsche GT3RS and a Challenge Stradale. Wait...I think I've got that covered
I don’t get to all the V6 hybrid hate. 1-They have to go that direction, you all know the regulations, and this where we are heading. 2-Whilst it’s fair to prefer N/A engine , v8,v12 it is also fair to say Ferrari has always lived with its time. The f40 has turbos, the la Ferrari has some hybridation, those are great cars no? 3- Nothing prevents one to love both older and newer cars. I prefer older but refuse to live in the past 4-Lastly the goal is to be alway faster & this is faster than the tributo. & the pista.Ferrari has win many awards with the 488 for having the best engine which pretty much killed turbo lag. We may not like it but we got believe in them and that they will make the best hybrid too. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
All good points. I don’t necessarily hate the concept of a V6 hybrid, I just don’t see how the current incarnation moves us forward. The weight penalty is too significant, and the HP gain is too modest. It looks like a solution in search of a problem. I would have preferred a hot rodded V6 at 3,000lbs rather than a larded up V6 hybrid. I don’t think I am alone. That’s not hate, that’s simply disappointment.
You make sense but some posters are just flat out making it like it’s the worst thing ever. If this car is faster than it’s rival- Artura - and faster than f8, no matter how un perfect it is, I think it meets its purpose. Im curious about its driving feel. Seems to be a big selling point in the presentation. The F8 drives great but without an exhaust it’s a bit blah, this is smaller so hopefully more nimble and exciting? Get used to the new trend. Hybrids are rapidly become the present and 100% the future and the era of V8 all ICE is in the rear view mirror. Those who are hoping that Ferrari will introduce a light, compact, ICE, with a manual transmission are those who believe in tooth fairies. Until I drive the 296, I cannot comment on its driving dynamics. I would venture to admit, that my expectation is that the car will be more GT, than inspiring track oriented super car. Ferrari afficionados, will purchase the car in any event. I am hoping that its performance capabilities and driving engagement are more immersive and compelling than its appearance.
This isnt going to come out quite right, but its remarkable how passionate / thougtful yet civil and professional everyone is on this forum. Rennlist can get snarky at times with talk about ADMs, finances, etc…this is quite refreshing
It's the best forum. I've spent time on RL and other import forums, and Fchat is in another league. Which isn't to say there are no arguments, drama or scams/scandals at times, but it's what we've got.
Rennlist has a few knowledgeable folks but many people who are stretching to buy their first sports car, hence the discussions and obsessions over adms. To me the financial stsbitly of many on fchat is much better than that of rennlist which is why the discussions here focus on the cars and not how much they cost.
Add an 812 to your Pista. The V12 is amazing and very different feel than the Pista. Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
But that car in your profile pic!![emoji33][emoji33][emoji1420][emoji1420]. That looks unreal in micro form - can’t imagine IRL. Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
Have 812. Have F8. F8 is too easy to docile most of the time. Too big also For your choice, 296 GTB or S when available will, offer the drivers experience. Like your 430 you miss. Acceleration will be there, sound and feel. Check check check. Small agile and fast. So how long have you been a hoarder ? Asking for a friend. ScottS
I do prefer the looks of the f8 but I’m very close to getting 296 . We will see! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I dont like the look of the 296, but the F8 has really grown on me, esp Spider. Given what you have owned, perhaps GT3 and CS would be nice. I had Pista, Speciale, TDF and CS’s, and the only ones still in my collection are the CS’s. If I were looking for something more reliable it would be Audi/Lambo for real DD use (ie not 5 miles to the gym and back home) or Porsche GT cars.
