i think the cars were somewhat equal to start the season (though Red Bull was better sorted). I don’t believe they are equal any longer. Merc is best of the rest, but RBR has taken a step forward with their recent developments. Merc has thrown in the towel, for all intents and purposes, on this season

I don’t understand why they would do this with so many races to go

Bahrain was a victory given away by RedBull.

The car appears well balanced overall, Capable in most conditions - straights or corners. Sounds like a Mercedes lol.

Nothing to stop them. Mercedes are not bringing significant development. They 'hedged' this season given new regs next year.

The only question I have is what advantage can RedBull carry to next year. I think its clear they keep Perez.

    Good news:

It took years for someone to develop a car and engine to routinely beat Mercedes

    Bad news:

    It wasn't Ferrari.

Money. Budget cap and focus on new regs. In the current formula what is more to prove? They own the records for this era.

Red Bull warned over Verstappen's victory burnout
    By: Jonathan Noble
    Jun 27, 2021, 3:21 PM
Red Bull has been warned by the FIA that a repeat of Max Verstappen’s victory celebration burnout as he took the chequered flag at Formula 1’s Styrian Grand Prix will not be tolerated again.

Verstappen was in dominant form at the Red Bull Ring earlier, leading comfortably from pole position and grabbing a victory that extended his lead at the head of F1’s points standings.

As the Dutchman celebrated his victory across the line at the circuit, however, he slowed right by his Red Bull crew on the pitwall and then performed a burn out – leaving tyre tracks on the circuit as he sped away.

But while drivers are allowed to celebrate after the races – and some have even performed donuts in the past – the location of Verstappen’s move did not impress F1 race director Michael Masi.

Being so close to the chequered flag line, Verstappen put himself in close proximity to cars that were arriving at that part of the track at high speed – and that risked an accident if something went wrong.

Speaking after the race, Masi made clear that he was instantly unhappy with what Verstappen did and warned Red Bull that such a thing must not happen again.

Here’s my in-depth and considered commentary on this race:-

    Dullest race of the season.

I have to kinda agree. When the big moment was if Max will be penalized for a burn out AFTER the race, you know there wasn't much going on. But, Charlie ran a good race after the first unscheduled stop.

The race technically is not over until the last car crosses the line. Max was a bit careless with the burn out. When I saw him do it..I kinda figured he would get his pee pee slapped.

I found it arrogant and immature -just what I actually think of him as a person as well- but I would not penalize him for show boating. That would be too soft.

The Red Bull is as dominant as the Mercedes used to be? Don’t make me laugh. When was the last time Red Bull lapped the entire field?

No, and we are not front runners.
But I remember Seb driving through the field several times after the usual unforced error.
That was car superiority which we had over (nearly) everybody.
Today, due to a good recovery strategy and good driving Charles battled past a lot of our direct competition.
    Carlos did well too.
So for me, it was an exciting race.

Wasn't Michael Jackson wearing a face mask in public quite often ?

I know I probably go against the trend again, but I quite like wearing a mask for the fact that people cannot see your facial expressions (mostly if worn with dark glasses !), so guess your mood, and behave differently.

I would mind keeping it, like they do in Winter in.Japan.

Sergio Perez's, 47 seconds behind in fourth place.

Max - gave away win in Bahrain
Max - tire fail in Baku

Should be 7 wins. Dominance is there. Mercedes are .25 behind and stopped development. This looks very like a Max/RedBull year.

I just find it strange that on the podium ceremonies, Lewis was the only one wearing a mask. Max and Bottas didn't wear one. To each his own I guess.

I didn’t say the Red Bull isn’t dominant. I said it is nowhere near as dominant as the car Hamilton has enjoyed since 2014.
