I do agree, Red Bull beating Merc in France is a turning point in the season. I think it's because of a series of successful upgrades. IMO Merc's next real chance for a win is at Silverstone.

I don't think Mercedes will simply roll over. They signed lewis on for a year to win this title, they won't suddenly give up (no matter what Toto said). The car will be upgraded, you can be rest assured of that.

 

If, indeed Merc has stopped development on the car...
If, indeed, RB is .25 faster...
If, indeed, Hamilton is truly one of the greatest...
Then this is a picture perfect opportunity for Sir H to finally prove his mettle

The Red Bull isn't the all conquering Mercedes that we've had to endure since 2014. Lets first see them getting regular double podiums before we start talking about easy wins, eh? Even then you're a ways of from constant 1-2s, but we'll cross that bridge.

I don't really understand what your concept of dominant is? MAX is dominant in that car at this race. Perez has 2 podiums to his name in 8 races. If this car was as dominant as you say it is, he'd have 5-6 podiums at least already at this point.

The car has not been dominant. This is the first race where Max blew away the opposition. Ever other race he's been fighting with the Mercs.

Compare that to say 2019 start of the season, when the first ''bad'' race Mercedes had was Canada...8th race of the season and they still finished 1st and 4th!

Some cars are faster than others, and they gravitate to their place in line.
Scramble the start grid, and the cars will still sort out by their relative pace.
(Plus or minus a few driver errors or dares. )

 

Hamilton is fast but have some mental breakdowns, I still remember the mistakes that costed him the 2007 season.
Some dilettantes seasons also when he had issues with his girlfriend.

Some people hate him because of the way he dress or his politics, I don't but he has some shortcomings, I still think he is on the very select list of F1 best drivers.

He has a tough season ahead, let's see how he deal with it.

I wanted the Mercedes domination to end but not by red bull, I hate that team.

I think with Leclerc and Sainz we have drivers that can compete with max in the future if we manage to give them a winning car.

Its 90% car right now. LH is stuck in a car that is capable but slower. The RedBull is faster and better balanced. Its that simple.

Full confession. I fell asleep during the race and woke up with three laps to go. Must be my inner clock for yawners . But to address your comment - my reaction to seeing Max out front wasn’t ecstasy, as it might have been a year ago, but more of a subdued positivity.

The ascendency of Max as WDC is becoming somewhat the norm. We have an Alonso-Schu 2006 type battle going on for supremacy. I’ll take it .

 

Im not sensing a very close battle overall. Bahrain small timing issue that put him over track limits and failed tyre is Baku. The rest show clear Max wins. France and this were very dominant type wins. He had no real issues or pressure.

The idiocy burnout at the finish line yesterday pure proof how un-troubled Max feels. He had zero pressure. Checo is no major threat. Another win like that in Spielberg this weekend and more of us will be snoozing with you lol

 

I never seen a driver who didn't face mental pressure or didn't made mistakes.

I’m not counting Merc out. Development work during the year is something they ‘seem’ to have covered fairly well in the past. And I doubt they’d want to stop their man from gaining an eighth at all costs.

I share the feeling, in fcat i didn't even saw the race, was eating at the time and watching the lap chart from my mobile, just happy with Charles progress because after lap one and charles in the pits race was over for me...fortunately he's the kind of racer Ferrari needs, not like that whining crap driving taxis that arrive in second and are given first places...
