I kept my stock secondary cats with my fabspeed headers and S line so it relatively tame. Do you have any vids of your car? Was the Kline as high pitched as the S Line after 4k? Kline almost seems to have a cleaner sound down low where as the Sline is kind of deeper and sounds like a muscle car at low rpm.
The cats have minimal impact on volume; if you go test pipes, that's where the gurgling starts happening in the lower rpm band. From trying over many diff systems, my observation is pitch is most impacted by header layout (4-2-1 vs 4-1) and material resonance (titanium vs inconel vs diff grades of ss). Kline does not sound any cleaner or dirtier. The distinctions are most notable in low-mid range rpm, on full wot and in the high rpm band, the only real notable change in sound is the fullness of the sound with titanium rapidly thinning out to produce a "tin-can-like" more hollow sound. I would almost liken it to an aventador or huracan-like syntheticness. Best way to compare sound is to also make sure the recording equipment is consistent; with iPhones being the most prevalent, common device in people's hands using that as a benchmark will help you find the right note for your ears and make it less likely that any video editing trickery has manipulated the true sound of the exhaust. Just sharing from experience, I've spent over $75K tinkering w diff exhaust setups and also helping pioneer the s-line exhaust on the Scud, I doubt anyone else in this thread has gone into that magnitude of commitment and unbiasedness in pursuit of that perfect F1 howl. Hope that helps.
Kline makes an exhaust in stainless steel if I am not mistaken just like the S Line. I would not opt for their titanium. Any experience with this version. Other insight is great. I have just secondary cats with s line and fabspead headers and get loud bangs between mid throttle shifts and gurgles like a mustange at low rpm. Not ideally how I want my car to sound.
I only get dual canon fireball shots on downshifts. Sometimes on low-rpm upshifts it will also spit fireballs if things are hot enough. Just 2 pops, almost always simultaneously, 1 from each tailpipe. No gurgles on my scud. My current setup is Powercraft 4-1headers w Powercraft 100cell race cats & a non-valved ss s-line. Regular 430s will sound different, but there shouldn't be any gurgling when your car is on the move. @RonnieRenaldi has the closest setup to you and he doesn't seem to be having any gurgling issues: Facebook link I do notice that w his, there's a lot more "ringing" or resonance to his exhaust note.
That's helpful. It's interesting my car sounds deeper than Ronnie's at low rpm and I definitely get the gurgles. It seems like Kline would sound the same provided it was stainless. I also think Ronnie had high flow cats at some point but could be wrong.
And what the few who have a valved S-Line won’t admit is it sounds completely different from a non-valved S-line. That’s because with a valved system, some exhaust flow still moves through the mufflers, which changes the sound.
This video, although on a 458, a perfect comparison between valved S-Line, S-Line (non valved), and valved Kline. Same day, same recording equipment. Judge for yourself what you prefer. S-Line is louder and crazier. Kline F1 pitch is less loud, cleaner, and more distinct. Expect the same characteristics on a 430.
That's a good summation. I love my s line at high rpm. Low rpm however, at least on my car does not sound too exotic. It is very deep, does not start to scream till after 5k.
Keep in mind these vids only display WOT pulls. What they don’t show is cruising speeds where youre hovering between 2-4k RPM. That’s where the valved system drives you less crazy.
Personally, the Kline system sounds best with straight pipes or 100 cell cats and even then I still think it’s a tad too quiet. A 20% increase in volume would make it perfect. They should release a less baffled muffler box.
Agreed, but in fairness you can modulate the throttle and shift up a gear in most cased to really subdue the drone you get with S line in the 2-2800 rpm range. This is not specific to the s line but more the nature of the 430 engine. All exhausts have resonance in that range I have found. Tubi being one of the worse
@carguy007 it might be worth having someone do a once over of the install of your headers and/or check your cats are not shot. You should not have gurgles and the s-line sound regardless of headers is VERY distinct and unmistakable ie sounds remotely nothing like a mustang or muscle car at any rpm. As for Ronnie's cat setup, he has Fabspeeed sport cats. Hope that helps.
Yeah I did everythiing is in order and are no leaks. The cats are not shot I will try and get some video. Sounding like a mustang was abit of an exageration. But low rpm it sounds deeper. Up top it screams.
It appears you might not be alone. There seems to be a trend of S-line owners moving to a valved system. Now, what I would like to see moving forward is some comparisons/feedback between valved S-Line and valved K-Line. Weight, sound, price, etc... It's good to see S-Line responding to demand. https://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/threads/f430-scuderia-s-line-exhaust.644103/#post-147971775
The S-Line looks cool. I like how they use two smaller mufflers. My Kline has a single large muffler. I think the two smaller mufflers may sound even better. Would love to hear a good comparison of them.

I agree. I like they way the two smaller mufflers look as well. Keeps the weight low vs high. Nice unique look imo. Similar to F430 OE sport exhaust. But would also like to hear how it sounds. Do they have a valved F430 or just a valved Scud muffler?
That’s not true. I admit it’s different a bit. But for the fact that I can quiet it down I don’t mind it.
I must be driving funny, when I'm in those low rpm bands, my car doesn't sound crazy at all and puts along pretty compliantly. No droning or gurgles either, unlike stock which was a major drone-fest. Is this like in auto driving mode thing or something? Coz that's the only reason I can think of...I almost never drive in auto.
So we have two Scud owners with S-Line (one valved and one not). One guy is saying he likes how the valved version is more quiet down (compared to non-valved) and the other is saying non-valved is quiet enough. Who am I responding to ? I guess everyone just hears things differently and has different tolerances. I tried my best to hear everything in all scenarios... particularly cruising because I had a bad experience unplugging the valve on the stock Scud muffler, which had a ton of drone and sounded like a cheap car. Kline does the job down low. My beef is up top, volume is not enough. Tone is perfect to me. Did volume drop up top on valved S-Line or same? Anyone consider the Pogea Racing system? Seems to have a smaller muffler box than Kline's. https://pogearacing.tumblr.com/post/184031722430/430-scuderia-monsterexhaust-the-client-had-the
I’ve had both systems. Non-valved for two years. I’ve experienced both with heavy driving and calm driving. Non valves is certainly not quiet enough. I can answer any question or scenario you’d like me to test.
