Heard today that virtually all first year allocations of the 296GTB are assigned or will be very shortly. Demand is high and is a similar mix of “new to Ferrari”/existing Ferrarista as the Roma. Sounds like mission accomplished for Maranello.
I find that by photographing cars from that low you lose the impact of how low to the ground the car is, compared to photographing from a standing position so that’s a positive that it looks good here. What that angle shows though is how tight the body is stretched on the wheel openings and how nicely rounded the front fenders, especially, are.
With the bumper and grille down at shin level, I would say that the front will be hardly noticed when standing over the car. At least it won’t be noticed nearly as much as the fantastic shape of the front fenders.
I think the first year they will hold their values, I don’t see any Roma for sale Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I understand and appreciate those who will settle for nothing less than a V8, and those who can’t accept a hybrid. But there are many who will simply want the latest Ferrari. They will buy the 296. There are those who want the best performing “reasonably priced” Ferrari. They will buy the 296. There are those who view Ferrari as the pinnacle, and who will never consider a McLaren or *gasp* a Corvette, and they will buy the 296. They will sell every one they care to produce. When have they not in recent memory? From reading this forum, the SF90 is a massive flop. They will sell as many as they wish to make. That simple. You can call them poseurs, not driving enthusiasts, people with more money than sense, whatever. Ferrari doesn’t care. And to be fair, they’re not exactly producing clunkers. McLaren produces amazing cars right now, arguably better and faster than Ferrari. They don’t care. They will still sell as many as they wish to. The 296 will prove to be a stunning achievement that would have been unthinkable and unimaginable just 10 years ago. Lots of other choices if you don’t love it, but for everyone of you who passes, there are five more to take your place. Everything evolves. Enzo was all about performance and at the time that required 12 cylinders … I seriously doubt he would thumb his nose at this cars performance because it only has 6. Certainly would be embarrassed by the racing team recently though . Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
Agreed. I preferred older cars but those new cars can also be specials in their own rights in this era. Heck the Ford gt has 6 cylinders and people rave about it Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I bet that you probably heard the sound of that flat plane crank 5.5 liter V8 in the C8 prototype and said “Yes, please!”.
The dealer here in California has a preliminary list of buyers for fifteen 296GTB in a few days after the announcement. Add to that 15 more buyers and that might be a year of typical sales / allocation for the dealer. About 50 % are new buyers.
Has anyone in US heard that their dealers have received allocations yet and confirmed that they have one? Thought that dealers hearing about allocation was still weeks/months off?
Sorry but I always take this information with a grain of salt. Remember when the California was introduced and Ferrari said in 2 days after the reveal it was sold out for 2 years in advance? I'm sure there's a lot of inquires but they are going to wait a while for allocations before deciding who gets what and when.
From that angle, incredible. Sadly that's an angle that in reality will never be seen unless you like crawling to your car army style.
Still better than some cars that only look good when crawling UNDER them, ha-ha. Nevertheless, this one even looks good viewed from a “normal” sight line: Image Unavailable, Please Login
All I know is that a first time buyer from new like me (I have 355/tr/ff used) I will have to wait 18 months minimum for one. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
We shall see but the guys I know have zero interest. I'm thinking most/many will be newer buyers. Honestly I think this will raise the values of the Pista and F8 and drag 488s with them. Time will tell.
Pista - yes. F8 my dealer seemed to be thinking like you but who knows. Both cars will collapse in value before appreciating that’s how Ferraris mostly tend to worn except special edition. The problem I see with the f8 is for now the sound and lack of improvement versus previous models but for now I have a deposit on one Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Just to be clear, you’re referring to a lack of improvement in the exhaust correct? Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
That's not exactly true. In person, the human eye can perceive the full shape of the car and can discern that excellent side profile with ease. It's 2D photos that make it near impossible to capture the look of many things. There are countless gorgeous people who are not very photogenic, except in certain angles, but when seen in person look completely unlike their bad photos and great from every angle. This is very likely the case with the 296.
