Needs more brass! I really miss a hand crank starter!

Come on.. the stick thing is long gone. If you want a stick buy one of the millions of cars with a stick still on the road and enjoy yourself.

This argument is getting really tiring. Putting stick in this is like putting a propeller on the front of an F-16 fighter jet.

Yes please! If they can lose the electric motors and batteries (250 lbs?) and pista it up for another 250 lbs, they would finally have something in the (upper) 2000s again. That would make it worth having to be a turbo v6.

It is not long gone (Porsche). And, the demand is huge for it. So are the profits.

I was not speaking from a personal view, but from the standpoint of market demand. Would a lightweight manual 296 "Dino" not fly off the shelves?

Your F-16 comment makes no sense. An F-16 cannot fly with a propeller. A 296 Dino could fly with a stick - off the shelves and on the roads.

I love sticks. I've owned more sticks than anything else. But today, the performance and the technical restrictions just don't allow it anymore. I just get tired of the "put in a stick" argument with every new car that comes out.

That time as moved on and it ain't coming back.

Look at it this way. A kid who is already 10 years old today might be able to buy a "super car" in 2045. Is he going to want to pay for a Ferrari with a stick that he's never even seen? I don't think so.

Its a new age. If you like the old age (as I do) then buy, preserve, and pass on to the future a classic stick car before they are all crushed today.

    Exactly!

I personally have no issue with Mayor owning just a humble 4c but I question why he posts like he's the Oracle for Ferrari when he doesn't even own one least of all this Mclaren which he throws off at?

Mayors cut and run behavior doesn't cut it i'm afraid. He needs to answer for himself properly. Saying "he has eyes" is a pathetic exit. One only need look at his humble 4c and then look at an Artura to see what I'm referring to here. His prior comments also make no sense or logic either. He quotes the name (Mclaren) as even "boring" and also a "one trick Pony as a brand? Again how are these disparaging remarks credible given what he owns? Or is he saying the name Alfa 4c is more seductive as a word than Mclaren Artura? C'mon. Who would ever believe that nonsense unless they were a Ferrari Fanboy of similar ilk to Mayor. What a joke.

Respectfully, you should really consider trying one of the decaffeinated brands. By the way, I am not a 4-C owner preaching to the Ferrari/Mac crowd. Just the opposite. I currently own 3 Ferraris, a Lamborghini Aventador SVJ and I have an MC20 on order.

I owned an Alfa once - never again thanks. Never drove an Alfa that I thought was much chop and ive driven most of them - often as loaners. I've also driven Exige and Evora in the right environment and appreciate them for what they are. Would I own one? Maybe an Evora 400 manual for the fun of it - seems a good driver.

My comments against Mayor are based upon the fact he acts like he's some kind of guru oracle for Ferrari without ever driving or owning one yet has chosen Ferrari as his brand of choice to throw off against other similar exotics. I would agree with Crinoid a 4c and a lotus is not a proper exotic but have their place on the lower rung for those who don't have the budget for a Ferrari, Mclaren, Lambo etc, but I get a bit annoyed listening to disparaging remarks from people who have never owned these exotics yet act like they have and are the last and only word. Saying Mclaren is boring and a one trick pony is just total nonsense if i've ever heard it and such remarks could only be coming from the mouth of a fanboy. That's usually what they do isn't it?

Fwiw I too own multiple cars/brands so at least have some idea of what I'm saying when i open my mouth. If I only owned a 4c i'd be pretty cautious about how I commented on an open Ferrari forum particularly where a lot of guys here own multiple brands. Someone needed to reel Mayor in as from what Ive been reading he is getting way out of control with some of his remarks imho.

It's not an argument. And not an argument I have ever made before. Take your generalizing somewhere else.

I believe Ferrari had a chance to do something special as an overt nod to the Ferrari customers who kept them in business all along (and would eat the car up) - before bowing out and officially/completely moving into a future of F1 mediocrity, fashion, and other silliness.

And, I'm not talking about 2045. If you are, then you are in the wrong conversation.

I don't "like the old age." I like with all ages. Not that it matters. Again, I am not making a case for myself.

Your 10 year old analogy is as bad as your F-16 analogy. Don't put up a straw man you can't even knock down.

Anyway, there is no need to discuss any further with you.

Agree...and im fine with that. But opposing views should be based upon some degree of experience with the subject matter, not just disparaging remarks projected, based upon pure unadulterated fanboyism.

That’s sometimes half the fun though. Listening to the completely uninformed banter on about nonsense. But I agree, there is way to much misinformation and people new to the brand coming here for information often get bad data.

One of the posters here says the rear spoiler that rises is on the top. I agree there is a spoiler there but Ferrari says the built in horizontal rear spoiler is there to reduce drag but you can pay to add extra downforce--to achieve a maximum of 360 kg at 250 km/h in high-downforce configuration, only if you order the Assetto Fiorano package. The optional package's twin black spoilers , each about 6" tall , rise out of the rear bumper , pop up style , when needed, and then disappear all in a couple seconds. They are seen deploying in the factory PR video below/

A scene showing them deploying is about half way through the video below on You Tube The scene goes by so fast I can't see where they hide out when not in use but they definitely rise out of the rear bumper, and since the bifarcated exhaust is just above the rear bumper, there has to be two of them rising because otherwise they would block the exhaust.
Here's the title of the video, the rear spoiler is rising directly . To see it, Go to You Tube and type this title in:

Very true. Some of its so ridiculous it's beyond hilarious. So yes definitely a good entertainment factor. Mayor could apply for a Hollywood pavement star !

And agree there is also so much misinformation even from legit owners which can make it very hard for someone seeking advice to walk away with something tangible.

And to add something to ur words sir, that battery thing makes the car more of an iPhone than a car, it will age so bad, and moreover in a couple of years the car will sound sooooooo old, which makes this car and also the SF90, both, to be very bad investment !! it's like paying 300k in a new apple phone or laptop !!!

Not sure if this interview has been posted yet, apologies if it has but it is too hard to look through all recent pages of all threads on the 296.
It is long but worth listening to IMO, insightful.

Found another video , this one labeled the b roll, showing the vertical rear spoiler deploying if you have the $40,000 optional package. It is just past four minutes into the video.Something like 4:04. Searching for proof reminds me of one of those movies about a assassination where a news photographer accidentally catches the shooter in the video...go to Google and type in this headline.

So I love Dinos. I’ve been waiting for this announcement for several years. The 296GTB definitely has its styling roots in the Dino. I put my deposit in the day it was announced. 818 hp works for me. Hopefully the battery does not drain down too quickly on the track. Have to drive around the parking lot for a while to recharge between sessions I guess. The rear of the car is Dino all the way. Love it.

going out on a limb....is it possible to convert the paddle shifts to a center console stick shift so people can row thru the gears? have the metal gate and all so it will make the snick snick metallic sound associated w the shifting.
obviously no clutch peddle. similar to the clutchless porsche 911’s in the 70’s.

When I first saw the profile of the 296 I couldn't help thinking it was an upgraded design of a F430, excepting the rear. Regardless, very pretty IMHO
