My dealer said that when the car leaves the container the status flips to 91, which signifies it has officially "arrived at the port". Without supply chain issues, then it normally is there 1-2 weeks. I read an article that outlined how Ferrari has a team there that checks out the car from head to toe, make sure it is perfect and preps it for transport to the dealer. If there is real damage during transit, they determine if it can be fixed before shipping to dealer or if they will tell the owner that there will be a new car offered due to damage on the ordered one. The cars are not parked outside, while thousands of other brands are parked outside in huge parking lots. Status 91 includes the customs clearance and Ferrari prep. The car at this point is officially still owned by Ferrari, not the dealer. Once the car is on the truck, it is 92 and delivery to the dealer is 93, which is also when the dealer ownership begins. I am not sure if it is possible to go get it before it goes to the dealer. I wonder about one of these cars sitting without a trickle charger for weeks. If the battery was installed, it is probably dead. I assume they deal with this after in lands at port and before it goes to the dealer.

I know my car is at 91 and been at the port going on 2 weeks. My dealer has another car as well thats been there 3 weeks. I figured it would be a stretch for me to try and pick it up. I am only 5rs from the port. Really hoping it can get delivered next week since I have track events July 4th and the 13-15 as well. Fingers crossed.

They won’t let you pick it up. Dealer is a different story once the car has gone through PDI.

and yes, they charge them while they sit. This was actually an issue when the SF90s began to arrive, all of a sudden they were dead despite being charged. Port figured out that the chargers have to be directly into the socket, no extension cords/splitters.

For me I am not so sure it was a trucking issue. My dealer is just over 80 minutes away from the Port of Newark. And, as far as I know many Ferrari dealers in the US have their own truck(s) to pick up and drop off cars from owners - for service, repairs, etc. My dealer could have easily sent a truck on a slow day to pick up my car at the port. California is a different issue and picking up several cars at once is also different. Since my dealer is so close to the port, I think that something else must have been going on at the port - and not just a trucking availability issue. I have a neighbor who ordered a new Porsche - his car sat at the Port of Baltimore for four weeks. I will inquire and report back to help set expectations for others who are waiting as well.

I spoke to my dealer today. And, since I do a fair amount of international shipping - container and break bulk - I can confirm the feedback I received. Bottom line, the shipping lines and the ports are a mess - all related in some form of fashion to COVID. And, at this point for me personally I hate hearing the "COVID" excuse, but it is a reality. Getting containers is an issue - used or new. The shipping lines are constantly modifying ports of call and schedules. (I had cargo bound for Cape Town, off loaded in JoBerg and left at the port for two weeks, before being picked up by a different ship and finally being delivered to Cape Town.) The ports are congested and the paperwork and inspections take time and manpower. Without COVID, the cars do not sit at the port very long. Now, multiple weeks is the norm. And, for onward transportation especially to CA, the dealer confirmed that getting the right delivery company (truck and driver) is an issue.

Unfortunately, for those taking delivery behind me, it is hard to provide a precise time frame for how long your car might sit at the port. So, it probably best to assume 4 weeks and if the time goes by quicker then you will be happy. If not, just hang in there as the end is in sight in terms of taking delivery!!!

I think the COVID excuse is really that the world was planning on a two year recession/slow recovery from the pandemic. Container production cut back, truck manufacturing cut back, global demand down, but then it was a V shaped 2 quarter recovery and the virtual immediate demand outpaces the supply on multiple levels. An exec at Hertz told me they sold 70% of their inventory last year and are having trouble buying new inventory to meet the almost immediate demand for rental cars. So my F8 is sitting in New Jersey and I just need to not think about it for a few weeks!

Was at the port for almost 3 weeks. Unions.... :) just have to keep waiting. No worries still have my C7 for fun at the track!

Hang in there bro! I was in your shoes a few short weeks ago. I feel your pain. I sat in port for 4 weeks.
When you finally get your baby all will be forgotten when you start that engine for the first time.
I had one hell of a day. Got home late and it was enough to just sit in the garage and polish her up and stare at it. Still smiling!!!

My car has been sitting at the port for 20 days already. Reading how long you guys have been waiting, I assume I have at least a week or two left.

Aside from Covid, FNA will hold back cars if they've met the quarterly quota already. My Pista was held for 3 weeks as well till the end of the year in Dec 2019. I wouldn't be surprised if cars start moving to the dealers starting tomorrow.

I have sadly also heard this before as well, games being played to hit quarter numbers or move sales to a different quarter.

Well back on the 22nd, the dealer told me I was status 40. I just received my first (stock) photo this morning in the infamous Ferrari app. Any educated guesses on how far along I actually am? Like many before me, I find myself kind of enjoying the mystery that comes with the lack of communications from Ferrari! :)

So is Ferrari's only port facility in Jersey? Or do they have one on the West Coast as well? If so, where?

I just picked my F8 up today. It is worth the mystery, anticipation, and wait. No regrets.
