Not sure if I am commenting on the same thing.....but I have the clear windshield tint on my truck - I swear by it and will gladly jump on a roof to loudly proclaim its benefits! I plan to tint my 308's windshield in the near future to help with cooling (and UV).

One of the locals has it, clear ceramic tint on the inside of all the glass in his 328. He swears by it. It's on my list of things to do.

I will third this. Buying a sunshade and getting clear tint litteraly hsppen before I even make it to the dmv to turn in the title transfer on any old car I buy. Its not magic that means your car won't be hot, bjt itd helps a ton. It also keeps plastic dashes from cracking as quickly in the south west (not an issue here but an interesting tidbit)

I'm having mine done through Boardwalk Ferrari. I'm sure they're farming it out to someone else, but Boardwalk customer service is top notch.

Had the windshield tinted with 5% ceramic tint to block the heat. It works. Used to have to run the A/C on 4 - not can run it on 2 and be fine. Also insulated the hoses leading to the A/C vents and reconstructed /seated the vent seals so that the air doesn’t escape around the vent surface. Sealed up the floors with NVX sound/temp insulation and it reduced the heat transmission from the fiberglass tub.

Be aware that glass is extremely smooth and hard so any sort of coating has an abysmal chance of hanging around for an extended length of time. It's also astronomically more prone to scratching every time you lovingly buff it with that soft micro-fiber towel. so, as far as Ferrari 308 windshields go and how much one costs I think I'd prefer to not experiment with mine.

I had this done to my 328 - and the result was AMAZING. at very noticeable change in comfort. The AC in my car worked well, but when it was out in the sun it used to be impossible to cool it off - short of driving on the highway for 20- 30 min or getting in the shade. The ceramic UV really worked well, interior temps were not that bad and once the AC was pumping - it could overcome the heat.. this is in Atlanta Ga, Humid, and hot sunny conditions. don't get me wrong if you left the car outside in the sun for a couple of hours... it was hot, but once moving in 10-15 min even in traffic you could notice the cool air vs. just less hot air. Highly recommend it. I believe they put the tint on the inside. it was $1500? ish, I had all windows except for the back one done.

So those who have had this done to their 3x8s, how long has it been since it was applied and have you seen any hint of scratches due to washing or heaven forbid use of the wipers due to rain[emoji6]?

I would be surprised since all window tint I have had any experience with is applied on the inside of the glass, not the outside.

Apologies, Didn't know, took the one comment evidently out of context when speaking of polishing and causing scratches.

Fwiw when I had it done (not on a 308 though) they said 5 years before replacement and even with regular interior glass cleaning I didn't see anything on it at all by the time it came off

The coating is done on the inside of the glass very similar to any window tinting. Good ceramic tints no metallic tints properly installed do not leave residues. If the glass surface is that smooth and not deteriorated and pitted it can be cleaned grease free and installed with assurance.
