Wondering if anyone has even changed these small bulbs. 1 in each spot. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Not sure about the 348. On the 355 the buttons are blacklit by LEDs. These are soldered in. It's best that a 348 expert answers this All 3 not working sounds strange. Perhaps a wiring problem.
Looking at the wiring diagrams, they seem not to be LEDs. They appear to be dimmable, using the instrument dimmer knob. Is your instrument lighting turned up?
They are bulbs and I have - right faff though but I'm not an electrician by any means! How to here: https://www.clubscuderia.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?45388-348-DIY-quot-Restoration-quot&p=746278#post746278
Wow you guys are awesome. I will try order these bulbs somewhere and try find someone who can do the bulbs.. as for the dimmer....I wasn't even aware there is a dimmer somewhere lol... you guys are all great
Matteo, If you are handy with a screw driver you can easily remove the center console to get to those bulbs. If I remember correctly you need to: 1. Remove the shift knob, it screws off after you loosen the jam nut under it. 2. Remove the shift gate (2 screws on top) and lift off. 3. Open the cig. box, remove the insert and then there are two screws below to remove. Gently pull the box out (it is somewhat delicate due to age). 4. Pull the rear of the console up while pulling to the rear and it is off so you can see the electrical connections below. Careful when putting that box back in and don't draw the screws down to tight or you will crack it. Hope this helps.
Hey thank you so much for the quick reply. These bulbs don't just come out looks like that are solder on. So that parts not that easy may need to find someone who can do it. As well as find a bulb # for those tiny tiny bulbs
https://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/threads/348-center-console-lights.259891/ EDIT: my browser threw up a warning for the link in the last post in that FChat link I just posted. However, the part number mentioned earlier gets plenty of hits.
Hey so Unfortunately I haven't been able to figure this out? Is there a simple way lol? So I am able to make it work like this. (by the way this is a brand new dome light) the old one looked like it was soldered. Right now. I can turn the light on by pushing the button in A position when the car is off. ( live power) Right now B position is off which is good i assume Right now c position doesn't work when I open the doors. I don't know what d position is? if there even is one. I'm sure I can reverse the wires so that the c position the door light works but when i do that the dome light In A position no longer works when the car is on or off. I am starting to think a jumper wire is needed i guess maybe that's why the old one was all mixed and matched together....? Any ideas love to get this fixed as we all know its dark in the car with out that main light.
Matteo, why do you think there is a position D? The light should only have 3 clickstops/detents. Is the back of the light enclosed or open? Are the contacts on the back of the light hitting something?
Yes they are So I'm noticing now when the light is hanging and I press hard in c position it seems to work with the door. But I have to press hard and hold almost like it's not touching somewhere properly. Image Unavailable, Please Login
So I think this is the culprit... these 2 pieces not touching correctly and it's brand new. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Thanks for the pic. I know it's hard to move the lens without it being fitted to the car, but your new light sounds broken. My old broken F355 Spider light behaved the same way. I replaced it with a new (Porsche) one and all was ok. I found a wiring diagram for the F355 (5.2) Spider . The wire colours are the same as the 348, but the light receives a door open input from the Immobiliser system, not from the door switches directly. The orange wire is power, the white/black goes to the console switch and Immobiliser (which provide an earth when activated) and the black wire goes to earth directly. The switch symbol inside the lamp however, seems to be drawn incorrectly. On your car, I'm guessing that: The orange wire is power The white/black goes to the console switch, the door switches and/or time delay module (which provides an earth). The black wire is a fixed earth.
Here are some Porsche versions. I don't know if it they are identical to the 348, but they work on the F355. https://www.stoddard.com/porsche-911/porsche-911-body-electrical/interior-lights.html There are two similar chrome surround lights with very different prices. Perhaps one has a glass bezel? Or is an original Hella? (EDIT: The notes on the more expensive one suggests they are reproductions, with even the Hella markings duplicated)
Okay so I fixed it I tried it 20x I out a small piece of solder so that the 2 metal pieces touch. This one the metal piece was hair smaller. You can see in the picture what i did. Anyone ever need help let us all know. I figured it out finally. Image Unavailable, Please Login
