The dealer being a representative of the manufacture must follow the rules and policy. Just like McDonald's. All franchises must sell the same product across the board. You cannot have one McDonalds selling Lobster, and the others not able to.

Sorry, but that is not entirely true. I am a dealer. I sell some of the products from my OEM and I also sell my own sellf insured products. Not talking about parts, but finance and insurance products. A manufacturer cannot force a franchised dealer to sell their products exclusively.

That is.opposite to what we are talking about. In other words you cannot sell.new Ford in the same showroom as Ferrai's.

Yes and no. Depending on the manufacturer. Ferrari obviously won't let you, but its common for other brands. Landrover/Jaguar for example. Lamborghini will let you dual a franchise as will Bentley and Aston. I won't even go into the mainstream brands.

So this car has stock cats and GPF right? The only item replaced is the back box?

The Novitec valveless ("Race") exhaust removes the GPF's as well.

Removing the GPF is illegal in for anything other than track use. Period. Full stop. No exceptions. To aver otherwise does not comport with reality.

Yeah well if u live in a state with no emissions like Florida I don’t see what the problem is.

Because “not getting caught” does not miraculously make removing the filter legal

It’s not about not being caught; there are no emissions testing in Florida. So slight difference. Additionally the gpf shouldn’t really have been part of US cars, it was for Europe regulations.
I agree with you but that gpf had no business here.

Residing in a jurisdiction (state or city) not subject to emissions testing is irrelevant, as is the distinction between US and EU cars.

Removing the GPF is illegal in all instances with no exceptions. The EPA certification of the F8 for sale in the US is void without the filter.

    Obviously, enforcement is a challenge.

The recent legal actions against the DPF removal clowns (coal rollers) shows what happens when EPA gets serious.

The custom exhaust manufacturers and installers mentioned so often on this board are next.

It is only a matter of time.

The F8 would easily pass an emissions test in Canada with the stock cats in place and GPF's removed.

I know when I entertained the thought of the F8, I was very underwhelmed with the sound and asked the dealer, service manager and sales manager to install an aftermarket exhaust to liven it up and they flat our said they would not as it will void to warranty. If anything with the powerplant had an issue, they told me somehow Ferrari would circle back and point to the modification of the exhaust and not warranty the repair.....this was a hard pass and flat out NO for me.

Yes..but would instantly fail the visual check and the scan. Seeing as we do not have emissions testing anymore you are at less of a risk.

Question: how would they know if u changed exhaust, then have a problem, have an indi put old one in, clear codes, then bring it to them for repair?

I suppose that is an option. But there are always tell tales when a car has been taken apart. At that point it would be up to the dealer to prove there was an aftermarket exhaust system installed on the car in the past. If you go this route.. I would suggest removing all traces of the car on social media under your name.

Indeed. However, it is up to the dealer to report. So... at the dealer's expense, they may or may not choose to play. Hence why the different experiences.

That's it, I've decided. Doing it to my Pista. The valveless sounds INFINITELY better.
