Right but we have to look at his whole career, it wouldn't be fair if I just ignored Hamilton's bad years. Hamilton has won in a inferior car as well. I was just pointing out that Schumi wasn't able to win in 05 once his advantage was gone, and as you said lost in 06 as well.
I wonder if Hamilton will get to win # 100? I wonder what James can cook up- some sources say they are still developing. Personally I think Max will win every remaining race. His driving and that car is really unstoppable at this point. And I really don’t know what’s happened to Ricciardo. It’s pretty embarrassing….
He's had a lot of ups and downs. He probably is one of those drivers that can't adapt to a car at all. 61 points behind Norris is a genuine ass kicking.
There's still so many races left - but so far it looks like Hamilton is wasting energy wearing purple dresses and looking for photo opportunities with his wellies and Roscoe at heel. Coz he's a star. I'm sure the teutonic Merc juggernaut is above just giving up - but looking at the facts : 1. A few races ago while Max was winning, when his team asked him if he should try for a fastest lap. he couldn't be arsed and said no. 2. Look at Russell/Alonso, at least Russell tried to ward off Alonso, but even going back to last season, Hamilton immediately folds if Max attempts an overtake. 3. Hamilton has had two clear brain farts already so early this season - not knowing which button to press cost him 25 points against Max who had a blown tire. Best. Sammy
No idea because Sky wasn't showing Toto very much during the race. Interesting how they have been spending more time with Horner.
Guys, really, don't feed our resident troll KTU. He's all about promoting His Lewisness and he thinks by bad mouthing Schumacher with his utterly distorted views he can get under the skin and feed his thirst for attention. Every single thread will revolve around him and his insane views. Put him on ignore and he'll soon be off. --- What a great race...It started off a bit so-so but after the pitstops it really became alive. Winners: Max: I mean what is there to say? Utterly faultless all weekend, first Grand Slam (only 23rd driver to do so!). Norris: Mega weekend from him, the first lap penalty was BS as I think that Perez would actually have gone wide on his own anyways. Anyway...took the penalty like a man, didn't lose focus and managed to convert is deficit into a wonderful podium. Bottas: Porridge boy proves that the Mercedes is far from slow by matching Lewis throughout the weekend and the weekend gone past. Alonso: Despite being handicapped during qualifying, him hunting down Russell was epic to see. The old git still has his wits! Ferrari: Fantastic work ethic and just well thought out this weekend. They knew their tyres would slay. So they go for their best start position with free tyre choice and did just that. Wonderful thought out team work with the swap. What a great pair of drivers. Red Bull Brass: Helmut and Horner both acknowledging that the T1 accident was a racing incident and shouldn't be penalized...and for bringing people in the hybrid era a real challenge for once! Losers: Perez. Qualified really well only to have an uncharacteristic awful, awful race. Lewis: For a supposed GOAT, it's surprising that he's not extracting more out of this car. With an actual challenge, the first one he's had since his previous teammate challenged him, you'd expect him to dig a bit deeper and provide a challenge? Given the performance of both these drivers it shows that the Mercedes is far from a slow car. Stewards. Let them race or what? Woeful. --- I still believe Red Bull isn't the dominant car. Max is dominant in the Red Bull. There is no evidence that anyone can win in the RBR. Perez only won by default on an untraditional track. He only has 1 more podium to his name. Yet, he's clearly a massive improvement over the last 2 teammates max had. I think people are getting a little confused on what a dominant car actually is, vs a guy being dominant.
*To clarify my last point, no I don't think that RBR is a poor car or clearly slower than Mercedes. I simply don't see any evidence that the car has a significant advantage over the season compared to Mercedes. It's difficult to say the time Max brings to the car vs the Red Bull, given Max's performance since 2018. Max has needed a capable car to challenge for the title, which he has now. Don't count Mercedes out just yet.
Great performances by Max and Lando today. How Norris came back from the bogus penalty to still to still be on the podium is impressive. Fun to watch the wiki-fans make excuses for their hero who damaged hos car on the sausage curbs.
Did he though? Damage happened ~lap 29... The replay of him running over the curb was from considerably later in the race, when he already had damage.
Mclaren found a lot of pace from last week, nice to see see them hanging in that bubble far ahead of everyone
Red Bull has the best car. Max has the best car. Don't complicate it. Therefore Max's performance is not genuine because he has the best car. This narrative has been simple for the last 7 years. Don't complicate it now.
I don’t know about that, they have the best driver for sure, but if perez is in the same car then that says a lot
I think the Redbull is the better car. Even with Maxs consistency, he’s basically pulled 6 wins outside of freak accidents. In the W11, Mercedes would be in the lead. The W12 is simply not as good. The high downforce is used to cancel out some limitations of the rake. Which kills speed on the straights. If you review sectors Bottas or Hamilton only pull ahead in the corners. In dirty air the Merc are nowhere, so they can’t follow. Toto and co have a massive hill to climb.
You never said that. You said Hamilton was doing better then Schumacher in 2005. Go look at your post.
Dirty air has always been a big problem for the Mercs, throughout their dominant seasons. IMO Lewis is underperforming the last couple of weekends, and especially Monaco. For someone in such a tight battle for the title you'd think he'd be doing much better. With Red Bulls step up in the last few races it's difficult to judge the actual speed between the mercs and red bulls. IMO I'll wait until Silverstone until we can see a clear picture of who is fastest. Max is always fast in Austria, Lewis not so much.
Hey Lewis, Max has you in his mirrors now. Image Unavailable, Please Login Photo © WB, The Road Warrior
Yep agreed. It was a bit sluggish until the first pitstops or so, then all hell broke lose. Really interesting race from P2 down!
Ok I thought back then it was the driver but now you switching back to car mode. Ok......the Merc is shaping up to be 2nd if not 3rd in constructors, Ferrari finished 3rd in constructors. So I would say Ferrari was a step behind. No excuse that Schumacher constantly finishing out of top 5 and not able to win 1 legit race, Therefore Hamilton is doing better.
