Yes it does. Particularly into the wallet. And yes there are legitimate questions (re F8) which aren't likely to be answered any time soon i suspect.;) If the marketing is found correct 292 will be a real party pooper - raining heavily on previous parades (SF90 and F8).

Isn't the AF package the 'replacement' for VS? It may be that any car offered with an AF version will not receive the VS treatment?

    The 296GTB AF:
Beginning with the exterior upgrades, the front bumper gets carbon-fiber appendages which can deliver an additional 10kg of downforce. More carbon fiber was used on both the exterior and interior of the vehicle to further reduce overall weight. Ferrari also put redesigned door panels which shave off around 12 kg. Last but not least, an ultralight Lexan rear screen brings the overall weight reduction to 15 kg.

Aside from making it lighter and more aerodynamic, Ferrari also installed several key upgrades in its chassis. These include special GT racing-derived adjustable Multimatic shock absorbers. This allows users to set the dampers for street use or for the track. For added grip, all four corners come with Michelin Sport Cup2R high-performance tires.

Yes it's not looking good for the SF90 sadly to say. I wouldn't be happy about it if I were having to take delivery now. I'd be telling them to shove that SF90 where it belongs no matter what it cost me.

If the 296 sells at a similar price to the F8 and in the event that the reviewers are falling all over themselves waxing lyrical over the 296, there will be many unhappy F8 owners since their car is now deemed less fun to drive.

No, Mc bear is laughing in this instance.

Look at it this way. Being able to see that Ferrari motor through a glass window isn't going to put emotion into a lifeless corpse.:D:D

    Really?

The "little brother" has been well known from before the F8 arrived. Everyone knew it (LB) was going to be hybrid and probably V6. The "best Ferrari" is always the "next Ferrari" or so goes the saying...

I think the F8 Tributo is for those that wanted a non-hybrid V8 Ferrari, last chance to get one from new because there will be no more, hence the Tributo designation.

The "new thing" is hybrid, Ferrari has been making that clear for years, if you want a hybrid, good, because that's all you will have from now until 2025 when the first electric-only will appear and then, eventually, that's all you'll have, 2200kg electric-only Ferrari's.

If that was not clear from years ago, well, it should be by now.

The motor through the glass is already mostly gone, the SF90 engine is so low in the chassis as is the 296GTB (not to mention the turbo shield being too hot so that part of the engine cover is not see-through); and with all turbo engines you are no longer looking at the valve covers but a thin shield plate.

Really. Ferrari enthusiasts are still very interested in new models. The anticipation of the 296 was intense and the car has already received a great deal of positive attention. If the reviews are glowing and the driving dynamics are lauded as engaging and highly capable, this car will undoubtedly be a commercial success with many F8 owners, inspite of and arguably because of, the hybrid technology.

    LAMBORGHINI DESIGN DNA

Determined proportions, clear contours, precise lines and pure surfaces are characteristics of Lamborghini’s design reduced to its very essence. This DNA embodies the guidelines that inspire the Lamborghini Centro Stile to create cars that are always different and increasingly innovative in terms of research and aesthetic language, yet all unmistakably Lamborghini.

While Ferrari is changing its direction from "past to present", sporty to elegant, with styling cues here and there they have yet to get a clear statement like the above to tie up the Ferrari DNA design essence.. it seems they are in the transition period ( or evolution period) in their design philosophy.

Good video. He is spot on about the front dam, the side doors, and roof. Not ao sure about the tail lights.

Only 15kg? AF pack on SF90 reduces it by 30kg?

Over here in UK F8 base is £204k, 296 GTB starts at £30k more… as a F8 owner I’m not feeling unhappy, in fact I’m toying with the idea of ordering a late run F8 Tributo Atelier car, as it feels like a no brainer…

Did your TTS come on Michelin’s or Goodyear? My Goodyear tires are struggling for grip off the line even when warm.

An observation of the TTS after 500 miles is that there is a noticeable acceleration difference between TC on and TCM Off/PSM. The 0-60 dropped from 2.53 as my best to 2.39 as my best. 0-100 dropped from 5.85 to 5.49 just by doing that.

Another observation is that the Goodyear Eagle F1’s kind of stink. They spin at launch even on hot days. Michelin’s could be in my near term future.

I just checked and they’re Goodyears. Seem ok to me but I haven’t really pushed them.

I have an M5 CS arriving in the next couple weeks and spec’d the P Zero Corsas. Probably a mistake for that car….

I’m just spinning all 4 tires too often. On the plus side, the Porsches can be launched over and over again. The car pulls harder with the PSM engaged.

Took delivery of SF90 this evening and of course, it’s England, it rained. But managed to get a 30 mile drive in, about 10 miles dry. I’ll write more thoughts at some point on SF90 section but it is breathtaking. Feels very sharp and nimble at the front end, the multimatic suspension gives quite a different feeling to the magnetorheological suspension. Grip is immense and sure-footedness is excellent, this is a car that really inspires confidence. It looks stunning in the flesh and some of the details are quite different to what you expect, for example the whole car and in particular the front looks much tighter and together than in photographs. The winglets over the front lights are actually very flush to the lights. Too early to tell but I don’t think my car will be heading back quickly. There are a couple of gripes, chief among which is the luggage space which is basically laughable. This is a roadtrip car for me except, how we manage that is a bit perplexing. I haven’t taken any decent pictures yet but will post when I get a chance to. Track day with Speciale tomorrow so no chance until much later in the week. I don’t think SF90 owners will be worried about 296, great though 296 will be, can already say that I don’t think I’d swap.
