Which car doesn’t have an AC option?
Is that really a burning McLaren in your profile photo?
    Have you driven a 765?

Wait what? I've never said I disliked the F8 as a car or, the look of it!? I've always said it's a nice car. I have said it sounds crap for sure, - absolutely!!!!!!!!!!! - engine has no crescendo whatsoever, and, as a Ferrari lacks the level of emotion it should have had and, I'm not alone with that assessment, so what's the big problem here?

It's also not my problem certain F8 owners have made a comparison from a very small pond of cars - but in saying that, if they wish to retain the same level of love I certainly wouldn't advise them driving certain other models, 296 too i'd say, as that may bring down the hammer of reality.

Re 296 i'm only parroting what the panel of Ferrari experts were claiming in the latest marketing video. So their words not mine! They ALL say the 296 is THE most emotional and exciting Ferrari to drive out of their current line up. They were clearly very passionate with their words - far more passionate and persistent than what they have ever expressed previously upon the release of SF90 and F8. So, if you have an issue with what these Ferrari engineers who built and designed the car have said, then go take it up with them and, tell them they got it all wrong OK. Let me know how you get on with that please.:)

Insofar as all this recent heated and verbose discussion going on over Ferrari's slogan, I haven't read into it, nor have had time to, as every manufacturer uses slogans. Some slogans are 100% true, some are just total embellishments to create excitement amongst the potential buyers.

Again - my comments on 296 being the more exciting to drive are NOT based off Ferrari's current slogans - which were put forward by another member btw - BUT, what the panel of Ferrari engineers have passionately stated!! These same engineers and designers have never articulated this position so strongly as what they have now, so I would give the benefit of the doubt that they may actually know what they are talking about and, want to reinforce this to the buyers as the previous models (F8 etc) have indeed been lackluster in the emotional dept and I am NOT the only one saying this!

Yep Jcmds hate runs so deep the 765 has given him PTSD. I think the avatar says a lot about the guy and his mental state of mind.

The poor guy needs mental help.....a goner....and when you read his postings he clearly doesn't get it.....and, is all over the shop like a mad woman.

And no, he wouldn't drive a 765 because his whole world would cave in.

Yes it is.That how far gone this guy is.He will not go near the 765 beause it is ugly, it isn't a Ferrari, it bursts into flames. He is suffering from obsessive- compusive disorder as well as a serious case of cognitive dissonance syndrome. He will eventually be cured if the 765 is not mentioned ever again.

Again what do you think Ferrari is going to say when they have to sell a V6 toaster oven vs an award winning V8. But I will take my own advice and reserve judgement when independent reviews have been done on the 296 and hopefully comparison tests between the 296 and F8. Until then you and I will disagree.

I'm ok with that. But I think you need to open your mind a little buddy. Maybe go back and watch the video as a starting point? I'd be personally surprised to find the 296 isn't hell fun to drive.....way more than an F8. Just think, 830hp, a V6 which has the sound of a V12 at high rpm.... sounds like a pretty good package even if what these engineers say is only half right. I think perhaps, just maybe, Ferrari have seen the ill's of what they've been putting out and are actually looking to redeem themselves. And, if by chance they got it wrong it wont matter to me - my world does not depend on it - there are so many good cars which actually are genuinely thrilling to drive, it doesn't have to have a Ferrari badge on it to do that.

I guess some ppl just have too many cars to dislike the f8 which is arguably a great car!

I really hope it is fun to drive and a success for Ferrari. I am a Ferrari fan boy but appreciate all makes and models. The 765lt is incredible and I would love to own one next to my F8. I’m weird I love Lambos but only want one with scissor doors LOL. I know the Aventador is not the best driving car but it sure looks good. There are so many great cars, it’s a great time to be a car enthusiast!

I'm on the list for a 296 and look forward to having one next to my F8 in the garage. You know I'll give you the real deal, Buddy.

This incessant bantering is the antithesis of why most of us appreciate and visit this forum. I’m frankly surprised by the level of discourse and lack of common courtesy prevalent in this thread. So with all due respect, chill out.

As long as we are on the subject, I can develop the metaphor further by stating that some cars perform so stunningly well that they are able to outrun their modest, or polarizing, appearance.

Ok, time to leave this thread.. the usual suspects has managed to earn their trolling trophies once again. Long live their cars and reviews. The avatar is for you. One last dig.. the 296 GTB will be more desirable than the Artura But no one wants to talk about that. Oh but wait this is a Ferrari forum

I actually agree. I think the 296 is the better car, but it should be…it’s 50% more expensive.

It’s a great experience. They have somehow managed to elevate the feeling in the cabin, a bit like Aventador v Huracan. You instinctively know it is a more elevated car in terms of status and price. Or did we think a manufacturer like Ferrari wouldn’t know how to do that? The driving is outstanding too. Ferrari seem to have delivered on their ‘Beyond Expectation’ theme. For example, we are used to having to sacrifice ease of use and agility to get bigger power - Aventador v Huracan, Murcielago v Gallardo, Testarossa v 355, 599 v 430 etc. The SF90 feels brilliant to drive, agile, nimble, quick, instant pick up, hair trigger throttle. It drives like a cross between a Speciale (throttle response, steering) and a Pista (grip, suspension feel) with more significant pace than either. I’m going to have to write something in the SF section after I get my head around this car - there is so much that’s new and interesting, it looks incredible (and the reaction to it from everyone I meet is the same when I suggest to them that the looks are controversial among Ferrari people - incredulity and genuine surprise; “really? Some people don’t like it? I don’t think that can be right”. I’ve actually asked quite a few people now, some I know well some I don’t know so well and the reaction has been the same - genuine surprise that some might not think the car stunning to look at. My family, including our four daughters who never hold back their true thoughts and have seen many cars come and go did not say “ooh not sure about that”, not one of them. They all have their favourites among our little collection but the SF90 is right up there according to them, though a couple might ultimately prefer Pista but a bit unsure.

I don’t think the 296 will feel like a junior SF90 for less money. It will be a different car, more like the old V8 line; 430, 458, 488 etc. but with Ferrari’s hybrid feel which makes the power train feel more like the old 4.5 litre n/a engine than even Ferrari’s brilliant 3.9 litre turbo does. It has to be a worthy upgrade to F8 (that is the intention with every car they release) and that is not knocking the F8. I’m not of the opinion that the F8 is disappointingly boring. I had fun driving mine, even with all the others in the garage too. It has its own feel and personality, different to 458, Speciale, 488 and Pista. It’s interesting how individual each of the cars from the 458 platform have been. I’m guessing 296 is another 430 to 458 moment - completely new mid-engined ‘junior’ supercar. This is not a new category just because it has a V6 in the back.

@Lukeylikey just want to say your write ups coming from an actual owners pov (not just a test drive around the block or some here who have not even driven half of the cars they are trying to "review) is highly appreciated. Keep it up. You might actually be one of those petrolheads who will convince me to maybe try a hybrid Ferrari in a year or so.

Being respectful is nice, but if one cannot speak one's mind on a super car forum, what remains its purpose. Imparting personal car experiences and offering opinions are vital to creating a compelling exchange of ideas. Focusing on being politically and socially correct undermines the very purpose of these forums.

I agree on differing options, etc, but at some point (and I’m guilty sometimes) the conversation goes off the rails. And more so sometimes it’s just adding no value and becoming a tit for tat type scenario.

I am always amused however how millionaires from different parts of the world will argue over on the inter webs over objectively great cars. Asserting Mclarens and Ferraris aren’t both objectively incredible is pretty silly.
