And then, after some time some of them turn out to be highly collectible. A print run of 1000 may look like a lot, but with growing interest in the subject, and given the quality of some books, demand will outstrip supply.

Yes, this has been in my Amazon cart for a couple of years! I mostly blame the publishers for so being so far off the mark on a publication date. Wait until you know before you start promoting the book.

I fully understand that ultimately publishers are businesses and need to make money and, if they don't, then we don't get the books at all. So much better for the books to exist and we at least have the possibility to buy them.

Having said that, recently there have been quite a few books that are as hefty in size and weight as they are in price and both money and space are not unlimited. It is also a bit limiting trying to read a book that you can barely lift!

I don't know the background to this particular book but I have formed the impression that it started out as one thing and became more ambitious. But also, you know two things about Doug Nye's books: They will be excellent and they will be late (sometimes very late!).

Correct me if I am wrong but a couple of people here already have that Enzo Ferrari book? However bigger markets like the USA got close to a release date a couple of times and then strangely the release date was pushed back 6 months or more. The book seems to exist only in certain markets.
I asked Doug about the GTO 64 book a while ago (June 2nd) but no reply yet as he only visits Fchat every so often...

As far as I know the Doug Nye Enzo Ferrari “photobiography” has not been published.

Evro’s web site shows October, 2021, as the publishing date for Doug Nye’s Enzo book, but that is likely subject to change.

Funny thing in this business, is that sometimes books you’ve never heard of publicly suddenly appear out of nowhere (as this GTO 64 book), whereas others which are promoted way in advance never emerge...Maybe there is a link?
The Breadvan Porter book seems to be available by the way...

Would one really need this if you already have 'Rebel, Rebel'?

Well I raised that point in another thread, hard to see why both would be needed.

I haven't received my copies yet so I am curious to see if they have gathered research not included by Keith Bluemel and yours truly in Rebel rebel.

I still like my copy of 'Rebel Rebel' a lot. Well written, nice layout, good pics. But as time elapses, some new facts may have surfaced. Also, 'Rebel Rebel' is now out of print.

    Thank you:)

Tim Parker retired from publishing years ago, last I spoke with him he was a Ducati dealer in Minnesota.
As to Rebel rebel I am happy with most of it but would clean up some of the interviews, with more experience you work differently.

So, how many Breadvan books does the world need? As many as 250 GTO books?
    (Sorry, could not resist.)

Sold out and quite expensive on the second hand market I believe.

I wonder now there is a second Breadvan book out there if it effects the asking price of Rebel Rebel in any way, either up or down?

The original / first-run print always have a certain “desirability” and are priced as such in the Pcar circles.

It’s been hard to find a clean one of these lately. And I’ve had my eye out.

The brand new "GTO64" book by Doug Nye arrived today.
    Fantastic production by Watermark Publications.
There was zero damage whatsoever, neither to the package nor to the book.
It comes in a cardboard slipcase, a bit heavier than the other GTO book recently discussed.
"GTO64" has 450 pages and mainly deals with the 3 genuine non-rebodied 64 GTO's 5571 GT, 5573 GT and 5575 GT. But the other ones are also pictured, mentioned and described in great detail. It really deals with all seven GTO64-style cars.
Production of this fresh book by British authority Doug Nye is 1'000 copies, I got issue #14.
I can highly recommend this publication, the only little critique so far would be the not so superstrong slipcase. The book is really very heavy and needs, like most of these books, a massive heavy duty, thick and strong slipcase, to avoid damage. I particularly like a special chapter about Italian race drivers Vincenzo Nember and Clemente Ravetto. It also contains several fold-out pages with various charts and drawings. It is my personal opinion that the print quality and paper choice is higher than the other GTO book discussed in the other thread.
