So I was a little frustrated with the bracketeer mount for my extinguisher. So I decided to make my own. Cost me less than $40 including all stainless hardware. I did already have the SEM trim paint.

I used aluminum stock from Home Depot. I measured and cut the aluminum to size with a circular saw and cleaned it up with a file.

I then used a couple of blocks of oak and some c-clamps on the thin aluminum to form the shape of the bracket part that attaches to the seat frame.

I then used my drill press to drill holes to attach the two aluminum pieces together and attach the eBay special quick release I had ordered months ago.

Screwed everything together with stainless steel hardware and painted the entire thing with 3 coats of SEM black trim coat paint.

I had to mess around with the stainless steel clamps a little because there was excess when you tightened them but eventually I just clipped them and bent the edges over. I also trimmed the quick mount a little to allow the screws from the clamps to sit more out of the way.

And now for the initial pics. I hope to take some good ones on the weekend when I take the car for a drive in the sun.

The aluminum is very secure and the way the bracket mounts it to the seat rail it doesn’t budge. I also put capped off nuts on the bottom of the 1/4 screws that hold the fire extinguisher quick release bracket to the aluminum rails so that it also supports the whole thing without damaging the floor mat, though I’m not sure it’s even needed.

So I decided to make a 2.0 version based upon having some left over material and learning from the 1.0 experience.

I decided to make the whole thing a little longer and to keep the bottom seat mount piece for the entire length of the bracket arm. I also decided to use a couple of 1/4" aluminum rivets along the bottom so I don't have bolts showing on top. I also added an adjustable rubber foot in the middle instead of relying on the nut caps on the bolts for the quick release bracket to give extra support.

    Here is the results....
