I think the problem with them is even by Rolls Royce/Bentley standards they're just too large. They're also pretty crude mechanically, even the VI still had a live rear axle with leaf springs and drums all round. Best left to people of the day like Idi Amin, Saddam Hussein and Greg.

I wouldn't buy it at any price to slow, heavy and size .. While Carl mentions the rear end and the drum brakes ...nothing wrong with that set up on a Standard body car of that period , huge drums will outlast the 4 wheel disc set up on an early Silver Shadow , RR went away from drum brakes for one reason ..noise .
I know the Governors former driver up here in Queensland. The Phantom 6 had just had a $150k mechanical tidy up but when he used it he always had a Police motorcycle escort to ensure he never got stopped on a hill because 1: he had no confidence in the brakes holding the car and 2: she really struggled to get going again, either of which could be a little embarrassing with the Gov on board. John he is telling you rubbish , the 1st and 2 gear in those cars are only good for around 27 and 40mph or 0 to 30mph in around 4.5 seconds .Plenty of pulling power . Going down a hill just put it into 2nd gear pull it up real quick ,a very heavy car but its not as if the Governor would be traveling at speed? Plus the drums brakes on those things are huge ..
He is a well respected former Army officer so I don't doubt him. He tells me it was 2 instances of the car 'failing to proceed' after being stopped on a steepish hill that led to significant money being spent.
