again, a generalization (although you obviously know more about this guy). If instead of tying up millions in capital on these cars he had that money out working for a successful business, invested in some private company, and/or otherwise earning a great return….then I say smart. Use someone else’s cheap capital. ESPECIALLY if there are tax benefits that we don’t need to speak about on a public forum.

now, if he has tons of cash sitting in the bank at zero percent but then is paying on all these car loans….yeah, not smart at all and I can agree on “dumb debt”. And I see this a ton too….people with 150k in the bank at nearly zero, then paying on 100k of credit cards at 18%. I mean, common sense here people….

It’s not a generalization. I know more about the situation that I’d rather not get into. There isn’t money in the bank. There isn’t a business. There isn’t money being out to work. There is just enough cash flow to cover the car payments. Not much else. If there is 25 million in the bank, then yeah- use leverage and cheap money to fianance. I doubt there is 25k in the bank. Anyways, I hear what you are saying about leverage. That’s just too risky for my blood. Good night.

Gee I'm glad that's finally over.

That fox hunt is a lot more fun. No where's Foxy scarpered off to? The bank for another loan?

Looks like everyone's lost interest in F8 and STO. .....

Well, I'm still interested in the F8. But hey you know me, I'm odd and can't drive worth a toss:D

But seriously, I think two things are happening. One is that people do seem less interested in the STO. The other is that the comparison was a disaster from the start. You could also say Senna or Wraith. They are so inherently different and should never be compared. Nobody in their right mind would look for an F8 and then switch to an STO expecting them to do the same job.

I don’t think people are less interested in the STO, I just think they are fatigued waiting for it to arrive. It’s taking forever….

Exactly, two very different cars. 1 luxury sports car that can be driven daily vs. an all out street legal track car.

    Well said. Totally agree!

Dusty/Foxy has made (another) huge error titling the thread F8 vs STO, when, it should have at least been titled Pista vs STO. That would have made some sense.

What has now confused the situation even further is Dusty's clever diversionary tactics since being called out - to avoid further question - leading the entire discussion off topic, boasting his financing knowledge as being above everyone else in the process. Sigh..... Unbelievable!!!
So he calls others out for being on his lawn for talking about other cars? Yeah right. Got it.

    Hounds!! Onward!

If ONLY he had bought a Pagani!

Would have meant a lot of clever "financing wizardry", but then when they looked over the collateral the finger pointed straight toward the door... and it was back to financing the 458 (again). An F8 would have been a pipe dream as would have that "old looking" STO. So of course these two are no good. One look too old now, and the other sounds crap:rolleyes:.

Then he gambled and won. Could
Have gone to Vegas and put it on black on the roulette table. It’s not my comfort level to put every penny I have into a car. Different strokes for different folks.

should never count on values of used exotics going up, total gamble as you say. Maybe he got lucky and won this time, but that's just dumb in my opinion.

Well, this thread has surely taken an interesting turn. It’s funny, but I do get a lot of guidance from the forums about these cars. Gives me a lot of good ideas. I do want to thank Shadow here for his postings not only here but in many other threads. In its essence, these postings serve as a strong reminder for me to always think critically about the information I’m taking in and to see what makes sense.

In all honesty, these two cars at the time this post started were some of the two hottest and highly anticipated releases from rivaling manufacturers. Limited to that, the comparison makes some reasonable sense. But thinking at a deeper level, they are apples and oranges and serve two different purposes in the garage. That said, for me, the Huracan STO was an easy choice as I already own a 488gts and am pretty happy with it.

now here’s my dilemma. Everything would have been fine if you guys hadn’t started talking about the 765! This is probably a moot point, because I may not be able secure a spot to order one of these cars. Seeing some of the comments of others, has made me think. I can’t have both as I’m already out of garage space and even as things are now, I’m getting some suggestions that it’s still overstocked. The fact is, my wife hates the 997 gt3rs and would be happy to see that depart.

Anyways, that aside, for the guys who are getting an STO or 765 or both, what helped you make your decision one way or another?

I’ll second this. I’m tired, worn out, exhausted, and otherwise a bit disillusioned. My only saving grace is I have nowhere to park it at present (sold FL home, new construction delayed).

From the Lamborghini site I know cars are beginning to be shipped, maybe that’ll pique my interest for a bit while I sit here swatting flies.

For me - 765 cause I think the 720 is brilliant. Had no intention to buy a 765 cause 720 was good enough till I kept reading about 765 from people I trust. Spoke to my dealer, secured an allocation and the rest as they say is history.

Depends on what's more important to you.

If it's outright performance and technology, then go with the 765. It's a hypercar in supercar clothing.

If you value more traditional supercar traits (particularly sound, NA responsiveness) and don't mind the wannabe racecar styling, then STO.

That said, you can probably enjoy the best part of an STO experience (engine/sound) with a Performante or EVO. You'd need to buy a Senna to experience 765 performance (actually, the 765 is faster in a straight line).

    ‘Both' is the right answer.

My STO is on a boat as we speak and should be arriving in Halifax in 20 days or so. Probably another a week or so from Halifax to Vancouver but I should receive my STO by mid-August.

Kicking myself for passing up the market intro car I help spec because at that time my SA wasn't sure if Lambo would add random options. The market intro was already delivered to a customer back in June. Oh well.

Let’s start with why your wife hates the 997 GT3 RS. That’s crucial information. Also, exactly how important is your wife’s opinion? Depending on how you answer, the right choice might well be Pista.

I ask because my wife’s opinion is very nearly meaningless. She does not like my cars, does not drive in them, thinks I'm a little boy that never grew up (she’s not wrong), and overall thinks supercars are just a little douchey (she’s wrong about that). That’s the bad news, the good news is that she tolerates my car addiction and is happy that I am happy.

I went with black, red calipers, sport seats, red trim and red dash trim. Didn't go all out with AdP this time around as I have with my previous Lambos.
