The Hot Vee turbo has to have its venting right behind the drivers seats So where in the world will the roof fold down to ? So this makes me think it'll be a Targa like the 328 GTS Image Unavailable, Please Login
I'm not sure the target demographic will accept that - it will have to be a push button system - maybe folding into the space behind the seats described in the brochure as 'shelf'
The GTS would have to be drastically modified in order to accommodate any kind a foldable mechanism just don't know if there's enough space to be had
Agree, If Ferrari goes for a targa, which I hope, the space behind the seats shall be the option, like in the 308, 328, 348, 355
We got too lazy for a targa, even the original Porsche 911 Targa is automatic now. The roof could be stored above the rear hood if they leave some room, as the air exits backwards.
Good point - these access ports have to be more or less fixed so the sub structure needs as little changing as possible - if the shelf won't work then the area above the engine would surely have to be used which could imply a revised bodywork above the engine to enclose the folded roof
Exactly - There's way too much going on in that area for them to stick a foldable roof mechanism in IMO
Ok, here's a fun idea. What if the roof tucked vertically in a cavity formed from the space behind the seats and the rear firewall. We've seen the spider variants for 458/488/F8 series vehicles lose that rear shelf to make way for the roof before... Image Unavailable, Please Login
The hood could be stored above the engine and the structural bracing around it. It would sit quite tall, so I guess they´ll need to do a rear end somehow similar to the SF90, with that small letterbox rear window.
Saw the GTB today. I may be proved wrong but no way is there room behind the seats for anything. Any removable roof would either have to be a manual affair stored in the front luggage compartment or, much more likely, an electric arrangement that stows on top of the engine like the 458, 488, F8.
That's what they offered to their 209 best customers on the LaF Aperta. 80(ish) of whom probably had experience practicing on their 599 SA Aperta.
By all means. I liked it better seeing it than in pictures, although that is almost always the case. I still don't like the way the front of the roof joins the top of the windscreen (Lotus-like). To me, the front has a very strong family resemblance to the SF90. The rear is a modern take on a 250 LM. Overall, I like it but I don't find it radically different to the SF90 or F8 and don't really understand what Ferrari are doing with these different models but perhaps I haven't been paying enough attention. The interior is quite spartan (I don't mean that in a bad way). No massive touch screen in the centre or anything. Apparently the passenger display is standard. Not something I'd want but I was told you can turn it off. As mentioned, there is almost no space behind the seats and no obvious storage space in the cabin. So pretty much everything has to go in the front luggage compartment (which I stupidly didn't think to ask to see). There was no mention of pricing, other than to say it wasn't intended as a cheap entry-level model (my paraphrasing), but I haven't read enough on here to know if that is known or not. This car had the Assetto Fiorano pack - hence the stripes. Although, personally, I'm not all that fond of the stripes at the front. In summary, (and if anyone cares what I think!) purely aesthetically, I like it but don't love it. Visually it feels like more of the same.
