Not to detract from a crap experience, or a massive loss, because I feel awful for the guy too.....but in the grand scheme that's chump change for a Mille.

Someone please tell me where I can buy that richard mille for 55K...that's a 90% discount! The model he had is around 600K....!

and people find it strange that F1 drivers all move to Monaco as soon as they can...

A reverse grid on Sunday is an incentive to sandbag, not to race flat out...unless you are trying to create a "destruction derby."

No idea, haven't worn a watch in years and have no delusions of future Mille ownership. ;)

The Scuderia Ferrari SF21 at #BritishGP will have a special logo on the Halo to celebrate the 70th anniversary of their first #F1 victory. And also, in honor of Italy's victory at #EURO2020 Image Unavailable, Please Login , the hashtag "thanks Azzurri" will appear on the SF21.

To celebrate the 70th anniversary of Ferrari's first F1 victory, Leclerc will drive the 375 F1 during a show at Silverstone.

I saw it mentioned here that 1st through 3rd will earn points (only) in the Sprint Race. Is that correct? Does your Friday qualifying time earn a grid spot on Sunday if you DNF the Sprint race ... or DNS?

Going to be interesting as usually teams take the practices to set up so won’t be the case here. Not as much at least.
What happens after the sprint to parc fermé, can they tweak set up or not?
I’m anticipating more mechanical failures in the race with the extra pounding of the sprint

What if a team wins the Sprint, then chooses to not start the Sunday race so they can save an entire race's wear and tear...

    Yes that's correct on the points. 3 points for 1stm 2 for 2nd, 1 for 3rd AFAIK.

I think a dnf in the sprint doesn't matter, it would be seen as a retirement in qualifying I suppose, so crashing out lap 1 sprint race will simply mean starting last on Sunday

See this is what worries me, I think many of us are fairly knowledgeable on F1 matters (I mean we take the time out of our lives to talk about it on a forum FFS, something the casual fan doesn't do). For a sport that's already quite difficult to get into, imagine you started watching just this year and all of a sudden this is thrown in your face. Just unnecessarily confusing even for avid fans of the sport let alone the casual or new fan.

After the sprint I don't think they can tweak setup, just like after normal quali I would say. I presume Parc Ferme comes in effect after friday quali even.

As a side note, it looks like we lost saturday practice?

Yes looking that way. A daft gimmick that few people know how it'll actually work. I just realized as well. Imagine making a stop 5 laps from the end if you're last for example, and throw on a new set of softs...an SC happens and it's a 2 lap sprint at the end, and suddenly you've ''qualified'' 6th?

Saying that, how does it actually work when starting the race on sunday? The top 10 starts on tyres it qualified on in Q2 on...friday? What a cluster****.

    ---

2022 cars should be much simpler and seemingly allow cars to follow much closer. What's the point of introducing this gimmick NOW? Brawn already saying this stuff can happen at 6 more races if they like it...It's WWE type antics. Just focus on getting a cool engine for 2025/6 instead to really draw the fans in. 2022 regs and a great engine will do just that.

I can envisage some real kamikaze moves at the start of the sprint race, then if come out unscathed have track position and only have to hang onto position for about 17 laps. Stroll for example is normally quite good over first lap then might drop back during the course of a full race .So lets see which heroes from the midfield backwards will full send it !

Exactly. Everyone on this forum is very knowledgeable about F1 and we don't understand it.

    Spot on Bas.

It's even worse on their instagram stories thing. Seriously, it's as if they're confused themselves with what's going on!

This should have trialed in testing etc. Not an actual race weekend. Todt himself said its a gimmick and UN-neccessary!

They probably should've done this in another very one-sided year. Pick of the litter over the past 10 years! This is the problem with running F1 as a committee...every decision takes forever to implement.

Have a dictator run the sport and decisions just get made.

I would have picked Monaco or Yas. Something new for the Monaco procession or Yas as its the last race and lots of 'testing' is done for tires and new parts for the next season by many teams!

I like this idea. Make it post-championship, no points and no holds barred? Run whatever settings and tires you want and drive the frigging wheels off the cars. Everything will be obsolete anyway so drive them until they break.
