yea, you probably shouldn't have mentioned the stewards were British...because they were not unless you consider: one Brit...one American...one Singaporean...one Belgian...and one Italian racing driver as a "British" panel.
Today is really eye opening. I wonder if any other driver, and I mean any driver, would have a thread about them after a race win bemoaning them celebrating to much.
There are 20-25 people on earth that are in this drivers club at one time. I’d say that is a very exclusive club, and tight knit probably doesn’t begin to describe it. When you put another one of those members into a wall at 160 odd MPH, and I’m not saying it was Hamilton’s fault, as I believe it was a racing incident, you should act with concern and class in the aftermath. The thread was about my disappointment in his post race behavior. Lewis Hamilton is not above criticism. If the internet was as prevalent during Senna or Prost or even Schumacher’s reign there would’ve been just as much debate.
Looooool! Man I had't laughed that hard in a while Lol! You got me crying laughing man!! Gotta give it to ya, you got some balls bro.
What on earth are you talking about? Fake Outraged? I'm not even real outraged. But seriously, Lewis runs all over Silverstone waving the Union Jack for his fans, then tosses it on the ground. It was actually my Brit friend who pointed it out. He was a little annoyed by it.
You're really reaching for this one.... He tossed it over the wall when climbing over - It looked like the person he was throwing it to missed the catch (then immediately picked it up again.)
Really? B/c you're re-presenting your disdain in seriousness about it & thinking fans bringing flags to support their drivers and nationality is the same obsession Americans tend to get with how flags should be treated at all times. It's a stretch & as the user above has ended up pointing out, a pointless one now that the context of what happened has been presented.
I'm not reaching for anything. It's nothing more than an eyebrow raise for me. As my Brit friend queried, "Couldn't he just hand it to someone?" He replayed it once, It looked like he tossed it at someone's back, and yes someone did scoop it up quickly...I guess they apparently thought the flag didn't belong on the ground.
First I have fake outrage Now I have disdain And Americans are obsessed So much ad hominem in your posts, it seems clear you are the one with emotional reaction here. Odd that you needed someone else to point out "context" after you made your first response. Next time perhaps do your own homework first.
Regarding the flag situation here in the states and without getting banned for P&R, it depends on what side of the party (politically) you are on.
What's he supposed to do? Take it to bed with him? He's just playing to the crowd, like every driver full of adrenaline would do after winning their home race in front of a massive crowd. We'd expect the same from VER if he wins in Holland or when an American wins the US GP (if it ever happens). I think he just threw it over the wall before he climbed over himself; I guess he must have been pretty hot after that race - I was hot just watching it indoors 70 miles or so down the road.
I must've missed the previous incident where a driver was injured after being punted off. Which race was this, and who got injured ?
I think flags and national anthems have no place in sporting events. They encourage jingoism, and partisan behaviour of the worst kind. The FIA should show example and abandon them. In F1, nationality doesn't matter, since there are many components and staff from various countries within the same team.
If Max had been put on a stretcher unconscious and been air lifted to Hospital I would hope Lewis would have had a different approach to the post race celebrations. At least he didn't do the crowd surfing bit again. That first lap Lewis was ahead going into Brooklands and Max just sent it up the inside ,Lewis didnt turn in on Max resulting in an accident he went wide and he lined him up exiting Luffield for Copse. Max quite rightly defended his position pushing Lewis towards the old pit wall, leaving enough space,Lewis did in fact get momentarily more than 50% alongside and Max would of course see that. At this point there are 3 main scenarios Max backs out ,Lewis backs out or they collide. This happens all the time, its racing. Lewis did start to back out (too late) Max took that split second decision to continue hoping that Lewis would concede enough but they still ended up colliding. Stewards decision was correct in that that Lewis Predominantly was at fault causing the collision, the penalty was the second lightest possible probably because they thought it was partly Max's fault. If Lewis had obviously punted Max off intentionally then yes we can talk about race bans or whatever. Anyhow on to Hungary.Hoping these warriors don't forget it Motor SPORT,not too confident on that though.
I don't recall any recent incidents of injury. I was stating to op that incidents occur every race and if we should condemn celibrations afterwards.
With all his karting and years in F1, I would think Hamilton knows how to punt a car off the track. And that's what he did...it worked and with the win...it brought his championship hope back to life.
