Another QuickJack thread...

None of the threads I found had great pictures and I am nervous. Can someone confirm these are reasonable jacking points for the QJ?

I believe that the jack points are highlighted within the owners manual. Can’t really tell from your picture. If you look under the car, they are fairly distinguishable.

 

The problem is that the documented lift points do not allow the QJ to remain parallel, which is a requirement. Other QJ owners have used slightly modified lift points with them, but I haven't found any pictures from under the car of those new points.

 

Pretty much anywhere on the metal/steel sub frame.

Have you tried putting the QJs across the car (meaning left to right alignment as opposed to front to back)? I’ve not tried this with my 308 and QJs, but I have seen other folks successfully doing this with Porsche Carreras which seem to have a similar QJ and jacking points alignment problem.

I have not. Other folks seem to have gotten it up similar to what I'm doing.

I ended up "sending it", as the kids say. Nothing seems to have crumpled or exploded...

 

I use them slightly off parallel and it works fine

I will mention that in your picture of the rear jack point I think you are a little far forward. My concern is that the heavy engine is too far from the support point and that it might not take much to get a tip. I use that reinforced triangle plate as my jack point to make sure I'm not too far forward with the center of gravity.

 

I think its also worth positioning the jacks so they push the car forward when raising. This way the engine weight moves more towards the jack pivot points, which prevents the engine weight from rocking them.

Interesting idea. Been lifting my NSX like this for years and it has always been super stable. But it's lift points are a little different (and one of the things they did so well on that car!!!).
