No comment. Read the French Wikipedia article - in French, as the English Wikipedia is not complete - about Balestre and make up your mind. He benefitted immensely from leniency towards his crimes.

I don't think it's fair to make a general statement suggesting that fans of Senna are casual observers while fans of Prost are aficionado's of F1. People tend to gravitate towards the charismatic versus the quieter, efficient figure. You could say that Prost and Lauda are the 'thinking person's driver' perhaps, while Senna, Schu, Villeneuve, etc appeal to people seeking excitement and daredevil antics. What's more popular, marketing or accounting? Both important, but people gravitate to what's flashy. I don't think it lessens their connection or appreciation for F1 racing though. It's not like the flashy guys are the Kardashians of F1 lol

I agree with gravitation towards flashy: I also liked kobayashi, Montoya and my main man Jaques Villeneuve whom achieved more than his late father (futons will not like that;))

Well, I tend to prefer quieter efficient figures to charismatic ones, just like introvert characters are my fsvourite compared to extroverts.
Also I like modestly, and undertatement rather than a flashy attitude.
I like privacy and understand people who protect theirs.
Probably why people like Prost Lauda or Clark are my favourite.
Lauda claimed to have no friends, for example.

Prost was a racer like any other.. .he was just very coy about how he went about it. He was a womanizer, schemer and super fast. .... he was methodical... and cheap. that cheapness came through on his driving... He was dating Princess Stephanie as well as a number of others along the way ... he just was not loud about it.

Its totally out of context from Vichy to Racing. he did a lot for F-1 that is what matters here.

Any discussion of Lewis intentionally taking out Max like Senna did to Prost at Suzuka is total rubbish. The circumstances and the outcomes were totally different. Senna took out Prost to ensure the championship win. Both cars wrecked with no interest in continuing. Lewis on the other hand had the slightest of contacts with Max with unfortunately extreme results. Over the years Hamilton has shown himself to be a hard selfish racer but never with the cloud that followed him like well-earned one both Senna and Schumacher had.

As for my take of the incident it was just that a racing incident. Spending hours evaluating a fraction of a second will let you see anything you want to see. As it was Lewis backed out of more than his fair share of close running's with Max over the past two seasons to avoid a certain accident. On this instance, he held his ground and it resulted in a light touch with a big wreck. The size of the accident is secondary to why it happened in the first place. It is my view that both cars were out of position to take Copse correctly and they would each need to compromise their corner. Max (as he has done before) behaved 'largely' in a fashion where Hamilton would have to yield. Max had more to loose and was not playing the long game well (a position he has not been in yet in F1). Lewis had to make up ground and was going to do so in a highly committed fashion. The corners leading up to the crash were outstanding but an incident was all but inevitable. It is unfortunate that it turned out as it did. BTW if I were only using a 50/50 scale to apportion blame I would say that it was marginally more Lewis' fault. That said still a racing incident and the penalty he got was more of a political token than a true penalty for wrongdoing. Drivers should be allowed latitude to RACE.

Lastly my real disappointment did not come from Hamilton's celebrations. I think it was totally justified particularly after a come from behind home win in front of the first full crowd in 2 seasons. Sport is about emotion and entertainment. Max was ok even if his car was toast. No my disappointment came in Max. Whining like a b>>> about 'sportsmanship'. Very self-serving and proof that this kid still has a lot of growing up to do.

Sometimes charisma is a lot more important than beauty.
Remember Serge Gainsbourg as an example !

Couldn't agree with you more, purely a racing incident in my opinion.. Max likes to bump and bully and is relying on the other driver backing out and yielding the position, Lewis just didn't this time, before the accident he touched wheels and moved over on Lewis at least 4 times, after the start by my reckoning.
All the drivers think Max can be over aggressive, and they give him extra space, Max knows how to intimidate and uses that. I actually looked up the stats of how many times they have each retired from races, and max's ratio of retirements due to "collisions" is pretty impressive. Lewis is no angel, but I don't think he's dirty
I don't think this will be the last incident between the 2 of them, I don't think Lewis would deliberately take them both out like Senna did to prost in Japan ( we could go on ad nauseum on the reasons for that) , but I got to say I wont be one bit surprised if Max does it, if not this year then at some point in his career..

Its going to be nothing if not interesting for the next few races.

You put too much emphasis on aesthetic, my friend.

In an individual, it's human qualities that matter.

Good look is the first thing to go.

Please share the ratio if you have it.
I think Max been pretty clean this year but I agree he has been a dangerous driver in his career so far. A rich man’s Jean alesi
