328 Appreciation From Others On The Road

+1 -- Same thing happens to me (but more from the Sports Bike Riders than the Hogs). I make it a point to (preemtively) wave to other sports/muscle cars (which often stuns them ) -- we are brethren, not enemies!

 

I've owned a '92 NSX for five or six years. I just bought a 308 a week or two ago. I'm often surprised at the lack of interest that the NSX gets. The 308, so far, has not failed to get a wave, thumbs up, chatting, or whatever when I drive it (which has been daily, for the most part!). I suppose people "know" the 308 much better, but I really don't understand it. I'd be checking out either if I saw them on the road!

 

With my 328 I can’t get gas without someone starting a conversation.

 

That's funny. I've stopped for gas twice so far and both times I got as much attention as if I had been driving a Honda Civic. My 328 seems to be invisible.

 

It's probably because 99% of the public aren't car people. To them, an NSX is just an Acura with a spoiler. Only car people would understand why an NSX is special. In contrast, the Ferrari is recognized by everyone for what it is.

 

Most people don't know it's a Honda, either, interestingly. I've had show them all the Honda labels on it to get them to believe me! I get a few people thinking it's a Corvette and some thinking it's a Ferrari, lol. But yeah, I think that Ferrari, and specifically the 308, is generally just much, much more recognizable... everyone has seen Magnum, p.i., it seems.

 

For 22 years, its non stop adulation everytime I go for a drive, plus my good looks draws them in as well !!! lol Look the 3x8 s are timeless, its that simple, and In the top five of the most beautiful cars ever built in the world . I was In Huntington beach a few years ago on main street, a lambo huricon made a right onto main street, a guy walking said " thats a nice car, but yours in nicer !! " referring to my 328 .
