I don’t get all the hate for e- vehicles; perfect for the majority of buzzbox drivers who just want to get from A to B without actually driving. No skin off the noses of those of us who ENJOY driving our ICE dinosaurs... Fuel WILL become an issue in the not-so distant future, but that’s life. Glad i’ve had my driving life as I have but the next generation of kids won’t miss what they’ve never known.

 

Yeah I calculated at the max commercial rate, most pessimistic consumption I could find for the sake of the exercise. In fact, it’s costing him very little as he has a big PV array at home and just tops up each night.
PS which I just realised as I was typing - how nice to never have to get into the car on an ordinary morning and wonder whether you have time to get petrol?

The benefits are enormous. No petrol stations....ever!!

 

He hasn’t done any long trips yet, but with a conservative range of 600k I think most people would just plan their trips to drive that in a day and plugin overnight ready to go the next day; maybe with a topup at the lunchstop. Not much different to planning a trip based on 98 fuel for the 308

 

I don't understand why anyone buys an electric car to travel long distances. Still too much of a head **** IMO. Pleasant? Yes. Effortless? Yes....but still a head ****. For now, anyway.

Cheapest Tesla 3 on Carsales are over $60k for 2019 version. For similar Mazda CX-5 with leather trim etc are about $15-20k cheaper..

 

60k is new price. Negotiate. And how can you compare a model 3 to a CX-5?

 

YEP but I think they option up to $100k pretty quickly (don’t know how much the boss spent).

 

I wouldn’t put 91 in anything (doesn’t all 91 have ethanol?) but I have run the 308 on 95 at a pinch and it seems quite happy.

Like comparing a 318 to an M3....they look more or less the same but they're not under the skin. It's not just a matter of options.

 

No. 91RON with ethanol is labelled that way. E10 raises the RON to 94, but gives less power. And you're right not to run E10 in the QV

 

No re all 91's.
The E10 is the ethanol one and is usually somewhere between 1-4c/litre cheaper to make it attractive.
