For my F1 to manual conversion, I'm going to weld the clutch pedal onto the pedal shaft this week and have everything measured out. The thing I don't have is a manual car to look at. I'm curious how much room there is between the left edge of the clutch pedal cover and the carpeting/dead pedal area when you depress the clutch. If you can measure this, I'd be grateful. Would also be great to have a precise spec for the distance between the clutch and brake pedal covers.

Reason I ask is I think there's about 2", maybe 2 1/8", space between the clutch and brake pedals. They're way closer together than on most cars and on other Ferraris I've measured (manual 360 has almost 3" of space). If there's room to the left of the clutch pedal cover, I plan on welding the arm on so the pedals are spaced at 2.5"-2.75". Would be a small but nice ergonomic improvement. But I don't know how much room I have to work with before the clutch pedal cover would hit the carpeting/dead pedal. Many thanks for any assistance.

The other dimension is a bit tricky because the carpet/footrest is not in the same plane. Anyway, I estimate it to be approx 42mm from the pedal to the footrest edge (not the carpet).

Thank you kindly. Greatly appreciated. Re the pedal/carpet clearance let me put it differently. When you depress the clutch pedal how much clearance is there on the left between the edge of the pedal and the carpeting? I don't need this in mm, just need to know if I've got 1" or 3/4" etc of room to work with there. Many thanks.

No worries. I’ve got a lot of respect for what you’re attempting. I’ll pop back down to the garage later and measure it. I don’t usually do inches, but I’ll give it a go. :)

Looking again at the photo, the perspective gives a false sense that the carpet is nearer the pedal than it really is. The first thing the pedal passes on its way down is the foot rest. The carpet that appears to be encroaching into the footwell is further forward & not as “wide” as it looks in the photo.

I am doing interior work on both of my 355's this week. I should be able to help with measurements as well if needed.

Thanks Ken -- yes please. I still don't know how much clearance there is between the left edge of the clutch pedal and the carpeting when the pedal is fully depressed.

    At least 1 3/8”
The carpet is slightly flexible & on my car is slightly away from the sheet metal underneath. It would be good to get a couple more data points to compare.
