What a crazy race! Congrats ocon and Alpine on winning a victory that would have been impossible at any other track (except monaco).

Dear me Mercedes. How did you let that victory slip away?! The ridiculous images of Ham taking the start all by himself will make many YouTube F1 compilations for years to come. Extraordinary. Lucky to get third.

Unlucky Max. Not much else to say. I’ll leave that to the Maxettes who will now be having a month long fit that their over Lord and dear leader has failed to score again.

Bottas signed his own resignation letter today. No way back from that degree of incompetence. George will be delighted.

Alonso - the matador. What an amazing racer he is. His defence from Ham was absolutely world class. A master of his trade. Max should watch his videos and take some notes on how to defend.

Stroll has finally begun his fight back against Mazespin for the title of worst driver of all time. His kamikaze crash into Leclerc was solid stuff. A fine return to form but I fear it wasn’t enough to eclipse Bottas as clown of the day today.

Congrats to Williams for finally scoring points. Double score. Sweet.

Bottas personally apologizing also. It seemed like he had an awful start and wanted to get places back at T1 in wet conditions…panic move, at best. I can understand Horner’s frustration, but again as the leader he can’t be reactive. Let everyone else (I.e. Checo) speak out about the issues, but he has to keep his eyes on the prize. This type of behavior will make Merc the focus for the team, and not the WDC/WCC.

the summer break hopefully provides an opportunity to reflect and refocus on the tasks at hand. The last two races were awful for RBR, but both championships have single-digit leads. We do know that Merc tends to turn up the heat in the 2nd half of the season, so RBR need to be unflinchingly RBR. It’s all still up for grabs.

I don't see the point of booing Hamilton at the end. He's no villain. That was just poor sportsmanship by the fans. You might like Max but Hamilton did nothing to boo about.

It wasn't too long ago that I was mocked for saying Alonso is still the best driver on the grid, and the best driver I've had the pleasure of seeing. Epic defending in a much slower car and never put either of them at risk. It doesn't get much better than that!

Absolutely loved the way he drove today!
He deserved so much the 2012 championship against the weak Vettel.

Just thinking with the budget cap, that the driver/team at fault of the collisions and subsequent damage lose the resultant damage value from their budget?

There isn’t a driver out there that will ever school Alonso. One one the best drivers on the grid. He needs a car to showcase his talents

Well I often think that about him but there's no need to put in black & white mate.

I agree that Fred drove really well today, and I think that helped Ocon. Overall a great effort by the French team.

Yes, Bottas was a cruise missile in the beginning but Team Merc made a huge mistake not bringing in Hamilton when everyone else did. Ocon and Alpine won because Mercedes wasn't up to the challenge today.

i think if we’re going to focus on noteworthy defending, Mick Schumacher deserves some love for EPIC defending against Fred, Max and Ricciardo in the worst car on the grid…by FAR! Very impressed with his driving today…didn’t finish in the points but we were able to see some of his talent come to light this race.

Merc has brain farted a few times over the years. Hamilton getting back to third was noteworthy, all things considered. Good to see the young gun get a win though. He had to defend against Seb, who seemed 1 sec behind the entire race. Fernando had the sexier battle holding off Hamilton for a few laps, but Ocon was under pressure the entire race and never faltered.

When you say Merc that has to include Hamilton as he is the driver piloting the damn car.

How it never dawned on him that he was on inters on a bone dry track I'll never know.

Radios are off during the formation lap. Hamilton's call. Hamilton's error.

Has there ever been a start/restart like that with just 1 car? And only the pole sitter? Looked hilarious...probably Mercedes' photo dream if not for bad tire choice lol.
