Full credit to Hamilton in his battle with Alonso. It takes two extremely talented and patient drivers to do that without one or both winding up in tears. He fully pressurized Alonso and Alonso's defense was epic. Fernando made one mistake and Lewis pounced. I still think he's an *******, but credit where credit is due. Full respect to both for that battle. It's why we watch.

Would've been better if he didn't moan on the radio constantly about Alonso not letting him by.

Yeah but there are no footnotes under in the win column. If that were so Fangio IMO would be considered the best. He won with 4 different teams and it is unlikely that all those teams dominated like Merc in these years or Ferrari in there years. Fangio also lived in a time when a crash resulted in death often and lived to retire. Those things IMO make Fangio the GOAT even if he only has 5 WDC's. Fangio was a man. Born 1911 lived though 2 world wars living 85 years with turn of the century medicine.

LH is always whining when he isn't 30 seconds ahead of the P2. His race engineer should get a trophy too. Bono is like an LH pychologist keeping him grounded in the car. Those closer wins and successes are as much Bono's as they are hamilton's.

I don't see others slumping over theatrically after doing a race.
Even when all things go swimmingly he'll find a way to moan.

Like now: He's blamed the team for not pitting him. Every single driver pitted. Every last one of them. No pit to car radio allowed on formation lap.

At times LH was lost without the team radio telling him where he is and others around him. I think he was already hurting in the car. Contrast that with sainz radio with team where sainz is questioning the team strategy and telling the team LH strategy will compromise Ferrari strategy before the team figured out what was going on. sainz is sharp and often LH is on the ball during races. I think most of the drivers are really sharp and aware of everyone else like pieces on a chess board.

I'll stand by my opinion that it was a silly call from Hamilton to stay out but the team are stupid for getting the forecast wrong as well by saying it was just about to rain.

Sometimes I get carried away, I've watched the onboards of Hamilton/Alonso and he only complained the once which was fair enough as Alonso did jink to the right just before turn 4, must be nerve racking at that speed when you're almost touching wheels.

As for Alonso schooling Hamilton, not really, Hamilton was really struggling to stay close in the last sector so couldn't really make a move in to turn 1 to set up a proper pass in to turn 2.

Hamilton tried going around the outside in to turn 2 but he just didn't have the grip and extra speed to make it stick, Alonso could just about manage to run him off the road.

You have to think about the situation, it's easy to defend like that when you're racing for peanuts isn't it

You mean athletes always have the exact same physiological reaction at the exact same time after a period of extended physical exertion (and there are not a myriad of other factors at play?) I never knew :D:D:D This must be why Nelson, Alain, and Keke all collapsed in unison on that Brazil Podium many years ago...oh wait...;)

I believe you are not up to speed with the actual rules. You may be forgiven as it can be a bit confusing.
Here is Ocon's lap before the restart with the driver / team comms. Please listen and let me know what you think :)

When he got out of the car, the adrenaline was still flowing. After a few minutes is when dehydration/exhaustion starts to manifest. Not everything is theatrics.

I mean- lots of hate for the guy, but if he pushed himself to that level of effort whilst being a professional athlete… Can the haters at least respect his effort today?!?

Question to those not liking the guy and or the driver:

Is there anything that he can do that would draw your praise and appreciation winning a race, what are the circumstances under which you would be willing to give this man his props in his current Mercedes if wins a race. What are your criteria, if any?

It sure seem that he can’t please you guys at all.

Ocon was harangued by Vettel for the entire race, threatening the biggest moment of his life. He didn't collapse at the end. It was a cool race day, 20 degrees cooler than practice. If Louis was so exhausted, he should have scootered to the podium. Or spent more time in the gym.

Lewis is an incurable drama queen.

I'm sorry but the reason I call it theatrics is because Lewis has an incredible long line of amplifying things. Neigh on everything is calculated with this guy. As soon as he is on the bring of getting any amount of competition in the race he's on the radio complaining about tyres, car issues, strategy issues, stuff in his eye, not being comfortable, more car issues, saying things he needs to do are impossible but quite easily getting them done...it's 95% is for the show with him. He passes anyone despite his ''issues'', he's perceived a hero. He doesn't? Well he had ''issues", didn't he?

Maybe he really was fatigued this time. Who knows. But when the boy cries wolf every time....well you know the story.

Another fantastic drive from Hamilton again; from last to a podium place.
