I will be replacing my F430 tires in a few months and given the lack of a spare I am contemplating run flats. I do not track the car and the roads I drive on most of the time are well paved but some areas of central California where I drive have no cell signal. I keep tire flat repair kit and flat inflator in the frunk but useless with a large tear The run flats on my Corvettes (C7 and now C8) are livable. I am weighing the ride vs. security of run flats.

    Thoughts??

I think you've nicely summed it up in your last sentence: ride vs security. Your choice.

I would not use runflats on a wheelbarrow!

My 530i came from BMW with Bridgestone runflats.

The car just wandered and the suspension was weak.

    Those tires were the worst

After 12K miles I took them off and replaced with Michelins

Enormous difference and the fuel mileage went up 3.5 miles per gallon

    Stick with Michelins

You will be more than pleased

Front truck where the spare wheel kit was. Deflated tire fits pretty well there.

I've been driving for many many years. Never had an occasion where I wished I had paid the costly premium for a run flat tire. I had my previous 1995 911 for 17 years. I had 18" wheels on it (OZ racing) and one day tried to fit one in the front boot when doing the front brake pads--- just out of curiosity. It didn't fit. Covered the passenger's set and tried to put it in the cabin. It didn't fit. From that day forward I never worried about not having a spare tire.

IMO, unless you live in an area with really bad roads, not maintained, and full of hazards, a spare tire in my 360 is a waste as well as the added expense of run flats. I'm a "good ole days" kind of guy. If I get a flat in the middle of nowhere with no cell phone service I remind myself that years ago I used to drive everywhere with no cell phone at all. Living the adventure of life.

Believe me, I could tell you some pretty funny adventures I had driving and being stuck without a cell phone. But I found a solution and I'm still here. Reminds me of the Dale Carnegie book: How To Stop Worrying and Start Living.
