Spider is completely different market. I don't think the guys that want a GTB/S are "settling" for a Spider. Supply and demand applies...lots of spiders out there to choose from.
Off topic but if anyone has a single or pair of 355 challenge seats (any condition) they’d be interested in selling please PM me.
Off topic. Denzel Washington owned a black 95 GTB. Prices going up . https://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/threads/my-f355-barn-find-and-build-thread.645703/page-2
I haven’t yet but will once I get it back from service. The car is a factory built 1998 challenge evo (yellow) with 4K miles.
Congratulations, Joe! I'm looking forward to you posting pictures of your F355 Challenge. Robb, the moderator for this forum, can help you with the history of your car and which seats were installed in 1998 Factory Challenge cars. Barry
Barry, Appreciate it. Working through logistics of service, detail, restoring couple of things to original, livery, etc. Having a great time. Robb has been instrumental in the research aspect and I’ve got the complete ownership (3) and now race history (2 drivers) from new along with some period photos. I’m thrilled to add another challenge car to the garage, particularly one as special as a 355 being the last stick shift race cars Ferrari produced. I feel fortunate to be a custodian of cars like these.
Joe, It's good to hear that you've already found Robb. He's a fine source for racing history cand orrect parts for F355 Challenge cars. When it comes to seats, you needn't worry about searching for the hard to find OMP VID Carbon seats which were installed in early F355 Challenge cars. They switched to OMP GRIP K/C or OMP EVOLUZIONE 2 VTR seats seats by 1999 when the VID Carbon seats reached expiration. Those might be easier to find. Barry
The silver GTB with 33k mi with an extensively hit rear end? That car is comparable to a clean 95 Red/Tan GTB with 22k mi?
I'd say, "yes" they are comparable given the ~$90k difference in price you estimated. Obviously a car that has been in an accident is less desirable, but did anyone ever determine the extent of the damage in the collision? Carfax can be useful, but it really is just an indicator for a good PPI.
We discussed the extent of the damage right here. You must’ve missed it . Perhaps we all choose cars differently, but if you’re telling me that silver gtb , with it’s current accident history, 33k mi… if fully sorted would be worth $145k …. And a clean (no accident history) 22k mi Red GTB (also fully sorted) is also worth $145k…. I’m choosing the red GTB 100 out of 100 times. And so will 99% of the members here on Fchat.
Now you are shifting the premise of the discussion, but you did land on a point of agreement. I would pick the red car too. Even in today's overheated market I don't think it is worth $200k+ dollars proposed earlier.
So, how much is a sub 20k mile Red/tan GTB F1 worth ? With all issues having been addressed and clean car fax.
What ever someone is willing to pay. Market results do vary based on who's looking at the time. You can check bat to see that. It also depends on the window of time you use. There is no retail number like a tag on Levis jeans. The F1 will pull it down some. https://bringatrailer.com/ferrari/f355/ Sent using FerrariChat.com mobile app
Or course it isn’t worth $250k… yet. At least according to the market. It was a joke . We still have a 7k mi (although euro spec) 2.7 red/tan GTB sitting on Ebay for $189k. Pick a number between $150k and $175k. That’s what I think the market is currently willing to pay for a 95 Red/Tan clean fully sorted GTB w/ 22k mi.
Delta for an F1 has to be a lot more than $25K....pretty hard to imagine a manual car that goes for $160K selling for $135K in F1 form.
