Back on to the laggy 600lt. Oh dear look what I've dug up here! Seems I'm not alone in finding the 600lt laggy!! Watch from 2.29 on. From 5.35 where he mentions Gt2rs. 6.00 onward - says when boost finally arrives it doesn't want to hang on. At 7.14 says "horrible" (out of what would appear to be frustration after copping a good dose of lag just when he didn't want it to happen. But then I guess CH can't drive either bit like the pro who was there on the day who also said it was very laggy if you're not careful - he had multiple Bathurst win podiums amongst a plethora of prominent race wins. But I guess he also didn't know how to drive or knew what he was talking about .
This is just a matter of being too low on the torque curve, normal for a NA engine. The driver needs to manage the rotational speed of the engine to keep it on the meat of the curve. A supercharger kicks in earlier than 3k rpm, as do variable vane turbos (like Porsche uses).
Just had my STO gloves fitted, I was told they'll be arriving in 1-3 months. Probably leather. Image Unavailable, Please Login
It's a gift for all STO owners. Dealers have the kit and they're sizing all customers, once they have your size it's submitted to HQ. My STO is arriving in a few weeks but I was told the gloves won't arrive for a few months. Call your SA and ask to get fitted so the gloves arrive when your STO arrives.
STO's 1.48.6 is nowhere. The 992 GT3 towels it up very badly. Its going to be even uglier when the gen 1 9923rs comes out soon.
3 seconds is going to be impossible to claw back regardless of who's driving it now. Plus I doubt Lambo used a dud driver for their time brag video....id say the best they could get their hands on wouldn't you? I think its pretty clear why they haven't declared a ring time. But all things considering Porsche doesn't play for seconds and it really shows in their cars, and you really feel that o
I’m not a big track junkie so I usually don’t pay attention to track times too much….but that is a big gap. Massive.
Yup. Even if they used Houdini as a driver that 3 seconds isn't going to go away easy, let alone anytime soon. The STO isn't a slow car and it's a decent effort given the age of the chassis but the competition have moved up and on so I'm not surprised at this time tbh, or the lack of showing of the ring time which they would have to know by now. I guess it all comes down to what you look for out of a car, but a car so heavily compromised as STO does lend a lot of question esp when you look at the Porsche, and that's not even taking the significant saving and solid resale of the GT3 into consideration which a lot of buyers factor into their buying decision these days - more than ever. And to add even further perspective:-
Also the Performante and EVO awd put out 443 ft-lbs of torque and the STO is only 417 which makes no sense to me. Given the torque drop and being RWD I don't think the STO will better or come close to the Perf time at the ring even with a little less weight and more aero/downforce. We'll have to see as they are taking their time about it. That engine really needed a power bump and they didn't do it.
Received this update on the Unica app as my STO just landed in Halifax... Image Unavailable, Please Login
After having extensive experience driving and owning Lamborghinis, ( 560-4, Balboni, 640-4, 580-2, Performante, EVO AWD, EVO RWD), the poor track time of the STO is almost to be expected. Lamborghini AWD models, are highly capable, handling cars that perform with greater competency on the track. The RWD cars, cannot put down power with the same accuracy and precision. The RWD cars spin at launch and are more skittish dealing witth hard, fast cornering. For that reason, the HP has traditionally been reduced compared to the AWD models. The STO is the first RWD model that has the identical power to the Performante. While the Performante exhibited tremendous grip, launch and road and track handling ability, it is not surprising that the STO is a compromise in these areas which clearly result in slower track times. The upside is that the RWD models are exceptionally immersive, entertaining and exciting to drive. The STO should feel quicker, lighter, and more nimble than the Performante, but not as composed and accurate. Hence more smiles per miles but poorer track times.
I’d personally rather have a RWD with a bit more liveliness than a faster, slightly less engaging AWD. Lap times are meaningless to me. I’m basically just competing with myself. The fun factor is what’s most important. @SLDriver, your car is awesome looking in black!
If you read the commentary he expected a slower lap because of the higher track and air temps. He struggled for grip in certain areas. But he loved the car. He mentioned the EVO was run on a better day. Respectable time, but thought would be faster. He always wheels the Porsche's fast. However, I haven't read a bad review yet. Will be interesting to see other times.
For these times to be meaningful, you need the same day, same driver and tires. I will personally have 2 to 3 seconds different in the same car depending on time of day.
