    Yup, Gary, I hear you.

The bellow of the C4 and the induction noise was truly intoxicating, A very capable car.

Thumbs up to Carl for starting this thread, I’m really enjoining looking back at the old pics and the conversations they generate.

It inspired me to look back at my Unique Cars magazine collection beginning from the mid 90’s and seeing what was advertised.

I came across this ad in the June 1994 edition. It appears to have a colour coded bumper but no Borranis…

    Is this yours Bill?

Geez big money in 1994 if you look at comparable Sydney House prices back then Dan!…Wonder what a 246 would have set you back then? I’m guessing around 60K?..

That's 15703, restored by Graham H at vast expense ($250K in 1990) and now owned by Miles S.

Not mine, Dan - it might be #16137, but that's just a guess.

As Gary said, that's huge money for 1994 - pretty much Daytona money.

I might try that phone number and see if it's still available. It would be good buying now at that price. :D

246'***** 150K around 1987 and never really went back. There were cars that sold for under 100, but they were restoration projects and by then you'd struggle to restore one for less than 150.

btw Bill A in Melbourne owned the car for many years. It was their sole family car, his wife did the school run in it every day.

Part of the pleasure of the Ferrari hobby was in the small production volumes - it was relatively easy to keep track of cars and often people bought and sold to their friends.

Such are volumes now, who could ever keep track and really, who could be bothered?

    Good point.

About 9,000 cars in total up to 1974. That's about one years production now. I've written the serial number of the 575 and tried to remember it, but too many digits.

When Luca was at the helm production was capped at 7000 cars per annum. Once he left in my opinion so did the last link to Enzo as Luca was Enzo’s right hand man.

Now it’s a public listed company churning out as many cars as it can. Really sad. In my life time I believe the California was sort of the beginning of the end.
In current times take the 16m for example a car build to celebrate the 16th constructors championship. Then the 458 gets to the end of its model life and Ferrari release the 458 Aperta Ferrari didn’t even win a race that year.
