    Spot on Ian! I went through 4 editions from 94 and there was a GT (didn’t say the only that it was an early edition with centre lock wheels) for $110k and a GTS (Aus del, 2 owner 49k miles) for $155k

    Ok so the question is Bill ( money aside ) would you rather drive and own the 575M over the C4 , BB , 330 or 246?…

    246 Dino prices where pretty stable for at least 20 years and started to move in 2012 I recall at the time M.S. selling one of his restored 246 GT's for $300K , an unheard of amount.
    I think the low point was early 90's when the country was in recession. In 1997 I was deciding between a nice condtion 246GT at $90k and 308 GTB Vetro at 70k and picked the faster, cheaper car with a V8. :).

    Some historical Shannons results;
    https://www.shannons.com.au/auctions/2010-shannons-motorclassica-collector-vehicle-auction/C0UUX1A9V66F9540/ 2010 $170K
    https://www.shannons.com.au/auctions/2011-shannons-sydney-autumn-classic-auction/Z904E1VA5FZ47ES5/ 2011 $170K
    https://www.shannons.com.au/auctions/2005-shannons-summer-auction/AR2QFI7W9A8BA3D2/ 2005 $85K
    https://www.shannons.com.au/auctions/2011-shannons-melbourne-spring-classic-auction/S56CP0NCFD4XR0DO/ 2011 $140K
    And even in 2014
    https://www.shannons.com.au/auctions/2014-shannons-sydney-autumn-classic-auction/XGHTN1S21IZ38BD7/ $350K, seems cheap compared to current prices.

    In the last 40 years Ferrari prices haven't crashed, they just become static while everything else goes up.

    The good news about the Democrat's economic policies is that the USD is heading back to parity with our dollar, which will be the time to be buying collectible Ferraris there.

    I agree long term re the Aussie dollar Ian , but I’ve backed the USD in short term investments because of Australia’s policies in handling Covid and simply shutting down states at whim…

    OK, in that case, I will start a muscle car thread. I'm into them too, but I do not own one. You may be surprised, there is quite a crossover between old Ferraris and US and Australian street iron.

    Bill, that last image #4 is definitely a Daytona, the 6 central carburettors and the dry sump tank to the right are giveaways.

    How many V8 engined Ferrari's do you reckon....that many that Randy Cook wrote a book!.....and that was just the Chev's.

    Thanks Marcel, I am thinking it is #19153. I am in conversation with the owner, I'll see if I can dig anything up after I have a look at it. BTW, 365 BBs here in Australia are on my hit list to sort out, I have quite a few numbers I need to reconcile.

    BTW, was anyone at the Geelong Speed Trials when the late Ivan Butterworth ran #19153 down the 1/4 mile strip? If you were, you'd recall the flywheel disintegrated off the start line and blew a hole in the bell housing. The metal that flew out was expelled at such a rate most was never recovered. It was a very expensive repair as the transmission case required replacement. Was in the late 1980s.

    The cause was a mechanic used low tensile strength bolts to screw the flywheel to the crank. An expensive error.

    Ivan was a real character and has some amazing cars. He was still changing tyres at his workshop on Hoddle Street, Melbourne, at 94. He passed away maybe 5 years back.

    In 2005 he was re-united with #4801 at Winston's and I've attached a picture. I will never forget that day. Ivan hadn't seen the car for decades and walked up to it with a smile as he placed his hand softly on the roof. He said; "This was my first Ferrari and I recall it fondly. I got into a lot of trouble in this car, because I was rooting around and it began to get noticed when outside different girls houses. So I decided the best course of action was to take them to the country in it".

    At this time, a woman, who shall remain nameless, walked past, looked at Ivan, who with the owners blessing maneuvered into the driver's seat and mentioned;

    "Oh, wow, it has rear seats, can I sit in the back?"

    Ivan exclaimed, "Oh Jesus Christ no, if you sit on those seats you'll bloody well get pregnant"
