No. Not a book. I have about 10,000 images. My plan is to spend 2 hours a week scanning the prints (And negatives). It will take about 4 years to complete. They would be better served available digitally, there's just too many. Luckily, I did start early writing the chassis numbers down which makes identification really easy. Except for most of the ones I'm posting!
Here's Ivan Butterworth in 2005 at the FCA Christmas party with his girlfriend. He was very charming and would have been early to mid 80s then. He asked me over to meet her. "Darn this old age Carlo, I'm slowing down, I'm now dating someone half my age" What a legend. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Doh! I was so fixated on the fronts of the engines in the first three pics that I didn't even look at the engine in #4 - only the screen line. There is a difference between the oling arrangements at the front between GT4 2+2 and C4 but I couldn't remember what it was. Rooky error, sorry. WM
19153 was completed 9 April 1976, is the fifth last RHD 365 BB built and did not go to Lowe but to Maranello Concessionaires AUS. Marcel Massini
Thanks Marcel, it is probably reasonable to assume the car remained in Sydney for at least the first year or so of its life then when the photograph was taken. Need to do more work on these Boxers
I think he enjoys legendary status within the Lotus Club Victoria as well - IIRC there’s a prize named after him.
Yes he does. I met him in the mid 1980s, he had just purchased a new green/tan turbo Esprit at this time. What's the prize? Ah, never mind.
Last pics for tonight, although not W.H. Lowe related, they are of the period. Being a BTC and a relentless name dropper, I was in Germany in 1999 at a classic car meeting and chanced across a seller offering old car brochures and manuals. In his stash was a pile of old Pininfarina press images. I had to buy the lot, here's a few: Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
