True. But Mears and Foyt had family that had a strong racing connection to start with. Back then that was just a vital as money. Add the Unsers to that list.

Agree. You may also want to mention that they also had mechanical backgrounds that aided the financial considerations. As their success grew from doing their own work, they grew both their sponsorship's and purse winnings. Not to mention their value of mechanical experience gained. No laptops required!

 

And who is bringing the money? Most here aren't doing this without someone bank rolling this endeavor. And most didn't get here based on sheer talent.

 

Dixon doesn't have the talent? Helio? Rossi? Herta? Newgarden? Bourdais? Pato? Grosjean? Sato?

The list of drivers that are there because they have funding or connections is a much smaller list than that of the drivers that are some of the best in the world.

 

They ALL have funding of some sort.....'wouldn't be wheels under 'em if not.....matters not the source.....

WHO does the funding doesn't change WHY the funding.....somebodies likes somebodies for whatever reasons......

 

So now a three week wait (from Gateway) to the next race at Portland. Then they come all in row with Laguna Seca next followed by the Long Beach finale.
