So my wife and family surprised me today with an aerobatic flight in an L39 for my Birthday. What an amazing experience, the guys there were super professional. The pilot Steve has flown for Cathay out of Hong Kong for 27 years (Gary do you know him, amazing coincidence) Had an absolute blast!! Thanks Gary, I didn’t ask him his last name I did want to seem too intrusive. He has a P51 Mustang there and a Spitfire. He said he has 15 acres at Brookfield in Brisbane. Lovely guy, friendly and professional. Man he could throw that plane around. We did some 4 1/2 G turns, the highest for the day, all the others threw up lol. You guys have the best job. I’m keen to try the Mustang one day

Mate it was, if you get the chance I can recommend it. My cheeks were sore from smiling. We buzzed some campers at Wyaralong Dam, 150 meters with a barrel roll.
When I get the video edited I’ll try and post it.

 

I look forward to seeing that Kim, there’s a couple of chaps at Camden airport that have a Quick jet, they recon most people are done and dusted after 15 minutes [emoji51]

I know F Chat sometimes doesn’t allow video uploads so I don’t know how it’ll go.
The flight lasts about 15 minutes, and they tailor the flight to what you can handle. The pilot said when you’re strapped into the seat the adrenaline you produce has no where to go except into your stomach and thus causes people to vomit!

Good fun, Kim! Happy Birthday! I took my youngest there for a flight in the Yak. I had a great time just wandering around the hangar and trying to figure out how I could justify buying an L39 - they're quite cheap, but cost a fortune to run.

Thanks Pat, They're a nice bunch there, we took Dad there for a flight in the Yak 10 years ago. Yes he said the L39 was around $500k, but I can imagine maintaining one and 600L/hr of fuel would add up. He also told us the Mustang weighs over 4000kg as opposed to the Spitfires 2000+kg which was interesting and their combined value of around $9million
