L to R carby books and tools in grigio and red $130K: https://www.carsales.com.au/cars/details/1979-ferrari-308-gts-manual/OAG-AD-20076787/?Cr=10
Yeah, engine number doesn't make sense however, way too low for that year, even for a USA car. $200,000 away from being a $100,000 car, looks really scruffy. You'd at least spend $1,000 tidying up the engine bay and radiator area with a few clamps that are missing and treating the treating the surface corrosion. Maybe I'm just a ****.
Some folk look at some cars differently Carl as i did when buying the ex PP car. For the Ferrari experience in a carby iconic 308 I would rate this as good buying. After a PPI from someone reputable, yourself,to make this a reliable driver quality non resale red carby...yep pick me. Obviously if you're looking at money in the bank, concours level then you're going to look elsewhere and it'd be priced accordingly.
Nobody is that big a wood duck to buy it at that price, surely? It truly is a $50K car. And you are a ****
Well all this mob reckon it's in the ballpark: https://www.carsales.com.au/cars/details/1983-ferrari-308-gtsi-manual/SSE-AD-7285666/?Cr=0 https://www.carsales.com.au/cars/details/1981-ferrari-308-gtsi-manual/SSE-AD-7326959/?Cr=1 https://www.carsales.com.au/cars/details/1980-ferrari-308-gtsi-manual/SSE-AD-7253278/?Cr=2 https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/254545709861?hash=item3b441b4b25:g:O1oAAOSwijRdwobA Not colourchanged probably matching numbers. Look at the 2 carby GTB's @ $195 been there for a couple of birthdays. I reckon this thing may last a week.....after a PPI!
I looked at this car back in 2014, before I bought my GTSi .it was for sale in NSW at Prestige Motor Gallery I think. It’s rough and doesn’t look like anyone has spent money on it in the last seven years. I did quite a bit of research on the VIN. You can find pictures of it in the states with amplifiers in the spare wheel area , Recaro seats fitted etc. I guess thats why it had the incorrect seats in it now, leaked oil something fierce, lots of evidence of poor body work. Interior was shabby. Brakes worked well from memory …. . It was 45k back then I suppose doubling your money for no extra investment in 7 years isn’t too bad if it sells Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
I don't doubt but everything is worth a look. I bought PP's for $37k,maaaybe spent $10k including the horror stories put up on here, oilgate, ragin radiatorgate, double gearbox to bellhousing gate etc. But in the end I had a great driving car and sold 3 years later for $62k Maybe this mob should start at $62k.......
Just to clarify, the car wasn't sold by PP, it was the car he used to own. The insurer paid out PP's claim, the the insurer sold it to someone who then fixed it up and and owned it for a number of years before putting it up for sale.
Err yes and? 99% of the folk here know that Mike,I didn't think your comment necessary at all. .....and,as most folk on here know, the ONLY reason I bought it was because it had been his. Interestingly though I didn't know it had been his when I posted the advert,it was PP who told us all,I phoned the owner and bought it that day. The day I picked it up from Carl he started a thread that included all of the above stuff I mentioned above and there was a great deal of discussion re it.....with zero of the complaints aimed at PP. Just for extra clarification....
Yes, however what you did is rode a rising market, there's no skill in that. How would you have felt if you paid $37,000, spent $10,000 then had to sell it through an economic downturn and realised $20,000? I've seen it happen. We're all different however and it doesn't matter to what standard we like our cars as long as we enjoy them. Everything is worth a look for sure
