I agree with your logic, except 575's aren't selling in the £60'k s, the owners/sellers are simply not letting them go. Hence lot's of no sales.

Barkaways have had that 550 up before, earlyier this year and last year - I remember the alcantara steering wheel. It looks more sensibly priced than the Slades offerings though. Also photographs well.

Not at an auction, as far as I am aware, but it has been for sale through Rayner Smith in Leeds since October 2019. Initially asking £180k (!!!), then £120k (bit of a drop!), then eventually down to £84,950 and finally, at the beginning of August to £79,495. Always listed as 30,402 miles. CC listing has a small error on the mileage as it states 30,375 but the pictures show it should state 30,475.

Ahh, yes I know the car, it's a repaired write off and was Cat C.

It's been inspected by autolign and now shows as repaired/inspected.

Cat C asking £180k, that is astonishing. I don’t know why anyone would buy a write off when there are good cars available, unless it was more than 40% off. A good 550 is maybe £90-£100k right now, so it would need to be in the lower 50s.

I think interestingly that prices are pretty much where they were when this thread started, or just before. In early 2015 a good 550 would cost you £90-£100k. 575 F1s were asking in the sixties and seventies.

A year before that, a good 550 was in the fifties (pounds) and the 575 F1s were asking a bit more than above/now.

The bigger drop has been in the next generations, 599s and F12s. The Maranellos are broadly performing like all the V12s before them apart from the special/LEs. Since 2015, up, then down, now the really good cars find owners at the right price.

Absolutely this, the real nice ones never make it to market. The two I got closest to buying were both off market and in both cases the owners simply got sellers remorse and couldn't let them go.

What we see make it to market is cars that generally don't seem to be in great condition, have a bit of story, have patchy service history from back when these cars were sub £30K or are simply asking too much money.

To be fair to the selling dealer, it had been listed on Autotrader for quite some time and they were aleays open about the fact it was a write off.

The problem being they hadn't adjusted the price accordingly. They were asking "good condition" money for a recored write off.

It will most likely be a no sale as they have unrealistic expectations. Or they simply don't understand how much the accident history effects a Ferrari over a regular run of the mill car. It simply rules it out for 99% of potential buyers.

I am on the hunt. Sold my 456M GT back in February. TdF blue with tan interior, Daytona seats with Blu Scuro inserts. She is a beautiful car. But time for something new. This Rosso Corsa with tan Daytonas and red inserts along with red stitching and FHP. A whole lot more aggressive looking than the 456 but just as well appointed. Carbon interior trim as well. I'm seriously tempted. Thanks for the reply.

I think @Laserguru keeps that to himself until he decides if he takes it or passes? Seems delightfully optioned.

    Good hunting Laserguru.

Thanks, Terry. The car has a lot of Orlando history including original selling dealership. The leather is in great condition considering all that Florida history. It is said that it lived all that time in an air con garage. It's seem likely. Headliner is good, visors don't droop, no dash shrinkage. But skant service records. No idea if the fuel pump gaskets have been done, clutch wear, or last major belt/tensioner service.

Guess I'm looking for that piece of info that is a red flag and haven't found one yet. It is an early 575 yet, as you say, very well optioned. A set of the modulars would look just wonderful on it.

    Thanks for the info.

Eric- Just plan on doing a full 5 year service on her if you buy her. About $5K, most likely.

Thanks, Taz. Full major, probably a good look at the fuel pump gaskets, full fluid swaps and I presume that should include the F1 pump system.

Eric- Worry about the fuel pumps when they leak. Changing the gaskets will do little good since the leak is usually a cracked cover on 575Ms. Some never leak and if they do, there is an improved version of the fuel pumps.

Also consider the replacing water lines in the vee if no evidence of them having been changed - minimal additional labor if top disassembled for major service - also engine mounts

I agree about the coolant hoses. Did that on my 456. But being a 575, it should already have the engine mounts with the tabs that limit droop, ne pas?

My 550 has 575 mounts. The design is different between the 2 and I might not understand it completely but I believe the 550 can completely fail whereas the 575 design can collapse but not entirely fail ala the 550.

The first photo is my 550 where the 575 mount had failed. The second photo is another Maranello at Roselli’s shop with a 575 mount that had not collapsed.

I personally took both photos from both cars while they were on a lift. Roselli is replacing along with the PPI items for me.
