Disaster coming!
is it true or april fool joke? if ferrari really ends relationship with michelotto then why michelotto expanding their workshop?
but ferrari haven't confirmed it yet! ..........Coletta stressed that the upcoming GT3 model will be developed by Ferrari. An external partner will then be appointed to help build and service the cars. In April, ORECA was reported as being set to replace Michelotto as Ferrari’s GT racing build partner. Coletta wouldn’t name ORECA when discussing the next GT3 program, but indicated that the build partner will “probably” be new. Long-time Ferrari associate Michelotto is confirmed as the 488 GT3 build partner up to the completion of and beyond the car’s homologation cycle. “Our collaboration [with Michelotto] is long-term and I think that will continue for the future,” said Coletta. “Because Michelotto works for Ferrari on many activities, not just GT3. Nothing is stopped. “I would like to be very clear: Ferrari is in charge of the Ferrari car projects. LMH, GT3… the projects are in the charge of our technicians. “After, we assemble the car with a partner, and the partner for the new GT3 probably will be different. This is the only different [aspect]. But the project is in charge of Ferrari. “I know that around the world exists a lot of misunderstanding. The car is created in Maranello. This is most important.” source- https://sportscar365.com/industry/ferrari-planning-to-use-296-as-next-gt3-model/ what mr coletta meant by "created in maranello"? actual cars or only the designing & engineering aspects of the car?
design: Ferrari Development: Oreca, France /Ferrari Construction: Oreca, France; chassis Ferrari supply so a French built Ferrari in the end…. never seen more stupidity don’t forget the 575GTC disaster project
What is your problem with Oreca Tom? Hughes de Chaunac created an impeccable organisation, the won Sebring outright a few years ago, his company builds great chassis. https://www.oreca.com/en/manufacturer/ Would you be criticizing this if it were a Dutch or Italian entity? You go get competence where it is. Do no forget that John Barnard got Ferrari to build a technical office in the UK in the 80's.
a Ferrari is build in Italy, not in France. Period. If you want a French race car, buy an Alpine. enough competence in Italy, there is ZERO need to cooperate with a French company, ZERO! Don’t get me wrong, Oreca I have nothing against.
Maybe Michelotto will have their hands full with the prototype so they're looking for someone else for the GTs. Yes, a bit weird, but who else they have in Italy. N-Technology 575s didn't work that well.
i don't understand why such a decision. race cars from many different brands are being built and engineered in italy even french renaultsport-01 was developed with dallara. if ferrari do all the development works by themselves why not create an assembly-line at the factory meanwhile huracan gt3 entirely developed at lamborghini by Squadra Corse. a non italy made competition ferrari is a sacrilege.
For once, I slightly disagree with you. Oreca is a great company but I want Ferrari to remain mostly Italian. I do not want this insipid globalization. Not the most efficient way to win I know but something important in the long term for the Brand I’m certain.
Maybe That’s what I’m thinking. The more prestigious LMH will be handled by the factory and maybe Michelotto so with their hands full on that they’re outsourcing the build (not design) and support to Oreca. Actually, I would have expected that they would involve Oreca on the LMH as Oreca have been the class of LMP2 since the start of that class.
Logically I would expect that Oreca partners Ferrari for the LMH and Michelotto continues with the GT programs... Strange.
And Michelotto does what? Perhaps Oreca will take over the GT development, but Michelotto will continue with the assembling of the GT cars... My guess...
i din't understand what mr coletta meant by ''created'' “I know that around the world exists a lot of misunderstanding. The car is created in Maranello. This is most important.” by the way most of the ferrari competizione car owners are either collectors or amateur racers. i don't know if it matters to collectors whether the car is built in italy or somewhere else but can assume it will upset some. do they deliberately risking losing some customers?
On my statement / post The situation is not as clear-cut as that. Seen the new buildings in Maranello?
ORECA have their fingers in many pies. They already provide the bulk of the LMP2 grid, about 25 cars at Le Mans this weekend. They also engiñeered the Alpine, ex Rebellion around one of their chassis. I think they also sell chassis to several LMD brands in IMSA. What could stop them working for Ferrari?
no: thank you. after so much whining about "ferrari-oreca partnership in gt" (i still pray to god it may not happen) do you think it's an acceptable idea? besides ferrari have enough racing knowledge and the told they're bringing their f1 expertise to Lmh development.
