The device in the center console controls the movement of the two side mirrors. Mine works fine for the right side mirror, but when I push the button for the left mirror, it seems difficult to press and I can not move the left mirror. Any one have any ideas what might be the problem, and how to fix it?

Is the controller suffering from stickiness? (surface degradation).
Is the panel clipped into the holder properly (i.e. sitting flush/straight)?

It's obviously a mechanical problem, perhaps some plastic part broken or jammed, but I don't know what would happen if you tried to separate the black and green sections.

New panels seem to be still available (P/N 191046), but not all that cheap.

Went out to the car just after reading a reply to my post. Pushed the left button down. It worked. Was able to move the mirror, up, down, left, right. Have no idea why it did not work yesterday, and works today. One problem down two to go.

    Thanks for the help

Switch could be a little dirty. Quirky old car stuff.

Good idea. Will blow it out with a can of air, same as my keyboard.

    Thanks

ceb, google "switch and contact cleaner" and buy a can to use on your switch. It's better than compressed air as it has solvents that clean the contacts and also remove sticky stuff, like spilled Pepsi, that may be hindering a switch operation. It is great stuff and very useful. Good luck, Bill

Agree bill… but be careful to not get it on the rubberized coating.

One4torque..."rubberized coating"....do you mean the "sticky button" coating? Will switch and contact cleaner remove sticky button goop? Hmmm. Why ask the question, why not go out to the garage and try it? Be back in a second.

    (some time later)
You're right!! That stuff makes a just-starting-to-get-sticky button into a terrible sticky mess. So, OP, be sure to use Contact Cleaner to get the switch working properly again but DON'T get it on the buttons!
