Valuable emergency trouble light -- I believe it plugs in under the dash gauges on the LH side on your models.

These emergency lights came in a 5x7" vinyl pouch with a snap.

what's this you say... its a VERY rare and VERY expensive light and if also happen to have the small vinyl pouch for it which its more rare together! I have seen these light with pouches go as high of three/four hundred bucks! Don't loose or drop it!

Yes! Pic above is not my car but yesterday at a car show, I looked at an 84 QV and saw the socket with the light inside turned on, now does it suppose to have light? I suppose it does so it would be easy to see in case of emergency but I’m not 100% sure.

I think someone just added the light in there. How can the socket work like that?

My 84 QV has the socket for the emergency light in that location, but no light in the socket.

Ditto. I have a socket, but the socket itself has no illumination (nor a bulb housing, from what i recall).

I'm with Doc. I have a '78 and didn't know what the socket was for. I tried jamming a bulb in it to no avail. I do have the trouble light, it's some sort of European generic socket size, but not a light bulb.

It is a so-called Hellas DIN power outlet socket. Pretty standard in Europe and still used in Maritime applications. The light feature discussed above is home made. The Hellas plug can still be bought for around 6$. I just bought this fancy thing for power supply to my Iphone and Saphe traffic control unit:

Similar products are readily available in countless options on fleabay and many other places. Search using ''Hella DIN Plug''.

Same light hence same socket according to the add shown below. Take good care of the light, it's expensive.

Thx_ then it looks like it was meant to plug in and the long wire would allow it to be brought to the outside of the car to illuminate an unexpected nighttime wheel change or similar… I’ll have to try it!
