Must be the aspect. I’ve never modified a car in my life.
Oh, so you are going to hate on Rolex here too? It’s gotta really suck being stuck with Chevy and Tag I guess.
Let me see...I bought my first Rolex in 1996 (Explorer II, white dial) as a gift celebrating my hard work and achievement at that time. I wore it 24-7 (literally) for the next ~ 20 years (work, gym, beach, ocean, boating, sports, etc...). It works flawlessly, looks great with its expected patina, and I could sell it for triple what I paid for it, I still wear it frequently. Now, what will really piss you off is in 2015 I bought a Patek Phillipe Nautilus AC (white dial) for an insane $52K...what an idiot, right? Go to Chrono24 and look up asking prices for that watch now. How could I have been so dumb.
This thread has gone soooooooooooooooooooooo far off the rails Look, the OP is correct. The Z06 does sound more like "a Ferrari" than a current Ferrari model. Ferrari has gained something with turbos but also lost something. An honest person would just admit it and move on.
Personally There is no reason to be arguing on Ferrari Chat regarding my car is better than yours etc. I've owned 6 Ferrari cars, # of Vets, a large # Porches. We are lucky at this stage in the game to have companies still be able to produce exceptional sports cars. Cars like the Corvette keep manufactures like Ferrari, Porsche on their toes with exceptional product & service @ a moderate price . I remember the days my 246 GT was not warmly accepted by the Ferrari elitist as Ferrar,I remember the days if you wanted to change the color of your "exotic" you just did so,I remember the days you just drove your car and didn't look at the milage & judge it like your gas guage- Let's see my depreciation is full, half full or empty. The beginnings of the Garage Queens my folks where and are the Dealership Games!
Base around 100k. Out the door at 140-150 with options. Sent from my SM-G930F using FerrariChat.com mobile app
Where in my statement does it appear as though I'm arguing? And the rest of your comments don't pertain to mine either. So, why are you quoting me? (not looking for an argument)
If these are the actual numbers for the car it will be a "no-go" for many people...myself included. Base it much more likely to be in the mid 80's and "out-the-door" at $110-115K. That's about a $20K bump over the base C8. I think it would be a huge mistake if they go much over that.
Actually I didn't mean to quote you at all Napoli. I made a mistake when I pushed the wrong Quote. Didn't actually stay on site to remove & didn't realize what I had done! Sorry!
I highly doubt that. Some insiders have speculated 90, but those have also said that 90 might be wishful thinking. 80k? No way. They are marketing a completely revised engine which they are considering "exotic". On top of that you get the revised aero, upgraded brakes and a few other bits. The base C7 Z06 was 81k. No way the C8 will be less or even the same. If your budget is only 110, wait for a usd one if you don't want a barebones car. Sent from my SM-G930F using FerrariChat.com mobile app
I called several dealers for this car in Europe.... The waiting list seems to be long already. I'm really looking forward to see it in October. The prototype sound really good. With Performance Pack (And some option) the car will be 150K for sure.
The base C8 came out at $59K. You honestly think they are going to have the ZO6 start at $100K??! That would be a 60% jump from the base car to the ZO6. That’s never happened in the history of the Z06 and definitely won’t happen now. You’re more than welcome to pay $100K for a base ZO6 but there’s no way in hell I’m going to. If you’re willing to pay $150K for a well optioned ZO6 then I’d like to for you to go in on a few business “deals” with me. It’s going to start with an “8”….possibly $89K before options. Any higher than that and they destroy what the ZO6 is, which is a “great car for the money.”
It will be, and as it's a DFI engine, it will get GPF for Europe. Sent from my SM-G930F using FerrariChat.com mobile app
I'm not willing to pay 100 usd as I have zero interest in it. But if you think that GM will price it like the previous Z06 three years later, you are kidding yourself. The C7 Stingray base model had a price of 56000 by 2019, but it debuted lower. By 2019 the C7 Z06 base model has a price of 81000. Are you expecting GM to only charge 4000 usd more three years later, for a car they have made such radically different? There was a price gap of 26000 between the base C7 Stingray and the base C7 Z06, and those cars were technically much more similar than the C8 Stingray and C8 Z06 will be. So to expect 90k as a hopeful base bht more in actuality, is probably not that unrealistic. Car & Driver for instance determine that the absolute lowest price will be 87k. That is if the difference between the base and Z06 C7 and C8 does not change. I.e about 62k base delivered + 25k for the Z06. But as both C&D, Motortrend and others have also touched upon, the C8 Z06 is expected to take on a more high end role than its predecessors. The engine in the C7 Z06 was supercharged, but still pretty low key. It was very much an LT1 with a blower and a slightly beefed up bottom end. If you tear down an LT1 and LT4 crate engine, they are not that different. Both feature a forged bottom end, same valves, cast heads etc. Obviously one is made for boost and the other is not, but in terms of parts, they are about the same level. The LT5 is more different with a forged 4340 crank, higher end rods, cnc heads etc. By comparison the engine in the new Z06 is more exotic compared to the LT2, than the LT5 was compared to the LT5. The C7 Z06 and C7 Stingray interior wasn't that different aside from the fact that there was a bit more leather in the Z06 etc. Now GM has mentioned that the C8 Z06 will get a cabin which is more of an update and higher end. These are the reasons why the press and others speculate that it will have a base price of 90-100k. Additionally I read in a different article that the engine which will be used in the ZR1 is a twin turbo version of the Z06 mill. If that is true, it means that they have developed a 5.5 litre DOHC engine they can adapt to an 850+ hp reliable power plant. This again hints to how radically different the Z06 engine is, and that difference come at a price, especially if it is only developed for the Corvette. The LT1 and LT4 had the benefit of also being used in other sports cars like the Camaro which also has an effect on price in relation to the overall cost. I'm sure Chevrolet will still try to keep it somewhat budget friendly, but it also looks like the target clientele for the Z06 and ZR1 is going to change somewhat. With this new DOHC flat plane V8, the Corvette has completely moved away from being the sporty muscle car which appeal to wrenching drag racers and road racers, to now be more of a focused budget friendly exotic appealing to a different crowd. I may be wrong, but at least this is my take on it. Sent from my SM-G930F using FerrariChat.com mobile app
Not that it makes a difference, but many in the know believe the msrp will start with a 8. there was a lot of speculation when the C8 came out as to the msrp on the Vette forums. Fully loaded I think the mid trim(2lz) should be around 110 and the 3lz in the low 120s. I just got offered 85 for my 19 Zo6 with8k miles on a trade in, 1k more than I paid for it new! All the speculation above, times a 1000, on the corvette forum, but, alas, nobody really know for sure.
Yes, I believe the ZO6 will be approximately a $26K premium over the base C8, just like it has been in the past (as you mentioned). Base C8 came out at $59K and that puts the ZO6 starting at $85K. That seems reasonable and likely. If it’s a lot more than that I will keep my allocation for the new Porsche 992 GT3 RS.
It did not start at 59000, it started at 59995, so 60k. Then you add delivery etc. So about 62k off the lot including delivery etc. with zero options. That's 87k if they retain the same price gap. But here's the thing. Have GM ever done that in the past? The C6 Z06 was 20k over the base model, not 25k. We'll know soon enough and hopefully those who want one gets one.
